So, who is ready?  I got my kids and my clothes all washed up this past weekend.  Checked batteries and sd cards in trail cameras but didn't put them out yet.
 
Still need to clear a few trails and spots for ground blinds and put up a double ladder stand.  Haven't been in the woods yet...oh, still need to send for 2b doe tags......I need to get on the ball.

Ready as I can be. Did some scouting last weekend. Checked a few stands. Might be a challenging year as I Lost one of my prime properties in 2B and the other in 2A is up for sale as we speak. That could get shut down tomorrow. I still plan on hunting it until it changes hands then I will have to try to secure permission with the new owners but that is always a challenge these days. 
 
I will be out next weekend in 2B but I don't have much confidence in the spot. 

Still need to get the trail cut and a new piece of property scouted. Father in law bought a 3 acre lot that runs into the state game lands. Weve seen quite a bit of sign but i havnt scouted for a stand location yet.

Going tomorrow to get some new arrows. My fmjs just hit the 5 year mark so time to upgrade.

Anyone try the new rage broadheads with no collar? They look good im in the need of some new ones or i can throw some g5 t3s, or havocs i have laying around on. Doesnt matter as long as you hit the right spot.

Need to get my clothes all washed up, but I've been mentally ready all summer. Went out squirrel hunting yesterday, and it turned into a scouting trip. Found a few early scrapes in behind my mom's house. One of them was a large community scrape about 4ft in diameter.

Been running the trail cam all year at my house. Its a fairly small woodlot, but always seems to have a number of bucks moving through it. 5 legal bucks on camera so far. 3 average 8pts, a good sized 5pt with no brows, and a good sized 10pt. Couple of resident does in the mix too.

I'm not normally a "target buck" guy, but I am hoping to get a crack at the 10pt. He's a homebody that I have quite a few pictures of since the spring time. Some of the smaller ones might get a pass for a few weeks.

If your on the ground remember to leave room for your bow when ready to shoot.
Stalked up a bunch of turkey on a fall hunt and got a bit ahead of them by a rock wall.
When they came in close enough I raised the bow--ooops tried to raise the bow-- got too close to the rock wall-idiot.

Every year I set out a pop-up ground blind for a retired state trooper friend to use for early senior season and then General season. That last two years we have had a wind event that toppled the blind (it is on the edge of a field). Each time it toppled and blew across the field, it tore off those fabric loops that are anchored to the ground (leaving the anchor and loop on the ground).

My wife has been able to hand sew the loops back on, but the next time the blind is toppled, they tear off at the blind edge again.

Does anyone have a better repair method than sewing?

I really don’t want to buy another blind since he only uses it for 3-4 days per year and I want to have it available to him because it is an easy walk, it shelters him from the weather, and he may not that many season left in him — upper 70’s in age.

You could put a large washer on both sides of the loops and run a bolt through it, with a nut on the other side. When I say large I'm referring to the circumference. I think the hole in the washer should be just large enough for the bolt to go through. They may even sell washers with teeth on them for this type of application.

Great idea by gravey. 👍 Fender washers may work well. Heavier nylon strapping with one end on the inside, the other on the outside, fender washer on both sides and bolt or pop rivit.

Pop rivets are available in ”blind rivet” wide flange and exploding head 🤯 style too, giving extra holding area on both sides.

Then too, don't forget there's always Guerilla Glue. 🤭
