It really is this easy to work for food. In an hr time. All day, everyday.
Never give up.

While it may seem strange to sum, it's fun stuff for us. We are actually going into planning and surveillance mode this weekend at deer camp. Now is the time to finish up projects there and get those cameras out. Gotta know what's hiding in those woods to target accordingly.
I'm not a first buck that walks by guy and will always harvest a mature deer no matter sex but its nice knowing how the gene pool is doing.
During our next trip in September well pattern the movement and October will be here before we realize summers gone.

Have fun times doing fun stuff

Just wondering if any of you guys fish the SR in the summer for trout or the possibility of a summer steely or Atlantic?  I'll be in that neck of the woods and I'm wondering if it's worth throwing in the fly gear.  Thanks...

So I did fish the lower fly section for about an hour.  I had one fish rise to my dry but he quickly though better of it.  Looked like a trout of some sort in the 14-15 inch range.  As I was working my way back down the run with a streamer I slipped and when I tried to catch myself my rod hand came down first and I broke my fly reel right at the seat.  It cracked clean off.  I wasn't mad though, other than being a tad disappointed that I wouldn't get to fish the run the rest of the way.  That reel didn't owe me a dime.  It was 23ish years old, went to Alaska 4 times with me, out west, countless steelie streams and trout ventures. I just sort of reminisced once it was broken about all the places that reel went.  It was a nice day to be on the water and the Salmon River is quite the resource, very cool place.  Thanks for the insight R3.

Just for the record, the Lower fly zone is closed for fishing until September.
The upper zone is open now but with only no weight

The lower parking lot area was marked with dates that stated it was open now At least I think I was in the lower fly area.
The area by the bridge in Altmar was marked as closed.  Ooops...

The bridge in altmar to about 1/4 mile upstream is the lower fly zone and its closed until Sept. Reason is because it has cold water springs that Atlantic salmon will congregate.
The fly area past the hatchery is the upper fly zone which is open now but until August is no additional weight.
