Havent had much luck in the past few seasons since a decline in numbers on the area I hunt.
They simply haven been there.
This year made 2 trips there without a gobble or sighting until this AM.
Called a gobbling Tom in from about 400 yards at daylight.
Came quick---BOOM.
 
My new place  (only 21 ac.) has a nice Fall roost but nothing as yet this season.
Who knows -perhaps this week is the lucky one there too.
 
At least the rains have stopped-for the most part-lol.

Around here there is not a morning hike that I don't hear or see birds, mainly I believe it's because the gas people are in the woods cutting right a ways for their pipeline. That is causing both turkeys and deer to change their habits. I'm located in the heart of the industry so much I leave for appointments 30-40 minutes earlier then usual because you have no idea how many flaggers you'll run into.

Seems to have been a good year for chicks- seeing hens with numbers of young regularly.
Havent seen so many in a few seasons--GOOD.

Saw a longbeard all fanned out walking tight circles around a hen lying in a field yesterday.
Drove past slowly but kinda know what it looked like was gonna happen- early for that---
Have seen them fanning for a while but not actually working hens.

Well- back to normal  lol
3 weeks into the season and a number of dawns in the woods- not ONE SINGLE GOBBLE
Location location - my neighbor is working birds daily.
The farm I hunt is NOT having a good bird year-------haven't even seen a hen.
Place was loaded with turkey in the fall.
Kinda think its the heavy daily tractor activity in the fields with not too much woods to hunt.
Orrr -as has happened before there- a neighbor is on a turkey feeding frenzy.
