Yep, drive by 2-3 diff. groups every AM on my way to work with the toms/jakes strutting away.

Been seeing a lot more deer out in the AM and PM's in the fields too and more roadkills.  Probably BB's getting pushed out of mommas home range since the new crop is getting ready to be dropped in a month or 2.

3 weeks yet to go. The green up has begun in the southwest corner of the state. Breeding was observed weeks ago and all of our neighbors will be hunting well before us as we wait for our late spring season to start after the best is over.

Talked with the neighbor last night...

A farm just down the road he has permission to hunt on, had a flock of over 100 birds in a cut corn field on it last weekend....

Wow what an evening here in the hollow.  Heard one gobble across the street. Pulled out a mouth call and he answered right up. Over the next 20 minutes I watched 2 deer move out into a field. Then watched 4 struttin their stuff at 700 yards. Heard 2 more in the wood line. So 6 gobblers talking. Yelped again and now have 2 behind my house. 3 hens roosted 30 yards from the house. 2 boys were still on the ground. Got the one into 20 yards until he flew up and roosted. His buddy came into 50 yards before he flew up.
Haven't heard or seen any since winter, and now have 8 gobbling and at least 3 hens.

I will bet in two weeks the fly south for the spring.................

With this late spring that hasnt happened yet, do you think the hens will be dropping eggs anytime soon? I just started Turkey hunting last year and have the opportunity to take my nephew ( mentored youth ) on the junior Turkey hunt ( April 26th ). I'm hoping to suck a tom in with a hen decoy? Or do you think it might be too late as the Gobblers will be henned up already?

B H...I have never had luck with any decoys. Although have buddies who do.
I saw birds separating today, so I assume the hens are nesting

Eman...I won't be hunting the birds by my house, well at least the first week or so...
This flock had +80 just 10 years ago. 2 years ago down to +30. Would like to see them multiply.
That being said I was told where there's a flock of 30 birds. If you want to go after them all you need is a good set of legs. Here in Forward Township we are all hills and hollows. I hope to go scout for them next week. I hunt Mondays and Tuesdays as they are my only days off.
More than willing to show people the area. Open to public hunting, Consol property 930 acres.
