If you've got a little extra room at the head, or dont mind making the head a bit bulky ni the name of weedlessness, you can try some of the wire weed guards shown here:

I recently did a frog pattern with deer hair and would like to add some different colors to the pattern.

This is what i made

What i would like to do is add some color like this pattern

so my question is how do i make the colors seperate. When i spin the hair it goes all the way around and i cant find a way to make it stay in one place and still look full with no gaps. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with...

anybody tie or want to do a tute for some different nymphs?  not the generic, but something more/different?  Big Stones, wiggle, anything.

It has gotten pretty quiet in here.

I hate nymphing, but when I do tie nymphs, it's generally extremely heavy dredging flies.

Just tied up a few stones on Partridge wide-gap nymph hooks. Thinkin they might work on steelies.

Ran out of black beads, but normally that's what I'd choose on this one:

Sweet looking stone. is that in size 8? I think the steelhead would enjoy those for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've had more success with stones in the spring than fall, though.

That's actually a #12. Biot tails, stretch skin abs, swiss straw case, biot legs, laser dub thorax, and bead of your choice.

Not sure if the odd proportions of the hook will help or hurt, but we'll find out. :)

Cold,
After seeing that winter's hope you tied, how about doing a tute for it?

Aw dUUd, it's really simple.

Zonker with 2 marabou collars.

If you really want a tute, I can do one, but honestly, it's just a zonker, and instead of a turn of hackle or guinea for a collar, use 2-3 turns of blue and 2-3 turns of purple marabou. Easy peasy.
