i saw at gander mountain a castable wireless fisfinder, you cast it like a lure, reel it back in slow, and the info is transmitted to an lcd watch screen... you can scan for fish as far as you can cast!
pretty cheap too!
I thought of buying one of these too. It seems ideal for fishing from shore, but I like to hear everyone's opinion before I buy one.

I use my vex off the boat all of the time. I have tried it off the pier but didn't mark a thing. I think a floating dock would be the best bet.

That would be the other end of the lake " jamestown Marina keeps em in all year longggg....nw/

works good in tandem with a bobber... cast near the transducer, set it to the right depth... maybe a slip bobber... work it just like ice fishing...

If you have a boat...Anywhere from 14 to 22 ft. has been good where you can find the bait....lots of walleyes the past couple weeks.  seems the little guys have grown....all were legal...

I throw both anchors and hang transducer about 6" below the boat. It works just like u would use it on the ice. I want to get the alumaducer in the spring. I have only used it on pi bay for perch

You might not need to buy an alumaducer. The guys at vexilar told me the Ice ducer will work. Try and google it

I will try it next time I go out. As it don't look like the bay will freeze any time soon.

I bought a puck transducer and use it on my bow mount trolling motor. Works great!
