thanks CU... never thought about how far below the dam those fish might have run up from.

The Shenango River does not "make up" Pymatuning. The Shenango River starts at the outflow of the dam of Pymatuning.

But to answer your question...I would rather eat fish from Pymatuning.

I'll eat fish from Pymy,Its been a long time since I've eaten fish from Shenango,I'll ice fish Shenango for big slabs but give them all away. It yields some giants 14- 15 inch fish but so does Pymy.I ate tons of polluted eyes from Erie for years and some 30lbs Kings(smoked and cold packed) from L.Ont. and I'm still here but the older you get the more you think about that stuff.

Rarely and I mean rarely do I eat fish from the lake and never from below the dam at Shenango. Reason is when Steel car was running they dumped tons of toxins in the river. Go downstream to Transfer and you had Greenville metals that had a radioactive sight right along the river. Add Damascus tube with their chemicals then add greenvile tube dumping. It adds to what is a very polluted river. This all settled in the lake.
Floated the river 2 yrs. ago in July and saw an eruption or massive boil of a black tarry mass that burped to the top in front of me. This boil was the size of a 2 stall garage. This was at a deep hole where the rr tracks cross the river below Greenville.
Pymy had problems with waste being dumped in from sewage systems along with ag chemicals. Still I do eat the fish from there. Very few places to eat fish in Pa. that are not contaminated some way or another. Them natives from clean mt. streams are tasty but take way too long to replenish the population...so eat sparingly accourding to the pfc recommendation.

but yet when the army corps does there monthly pollution tests from april 1st to the end of november they both test the same with mercury and other pollutions so if you eat fish from pymy you mys well eat them from shenango
