On the plus side, looked to me like the lake level came up a foot or so. C'mon warmer temps!

You would be correct about a foot. Still 2-3 more to go to regular height but it's coming up. Fished this evening at the soullway and picked up some small perch, well the others there, I couldn't catch one if my life depended on it. Nothing to write home about though and it was cold and windy still. 2 more weeks should start seeing the males moving in. The weekend of the 24th would be my guess on when it starts.

Forcast for this weekend is looking a little more fisher friendly temperature wise. Hopefully the wind stays down a little bit. Hit it for a few hours yesterday evening with only 1 slab and some extremely cold hands to show for it.

The reports are glorified in my opinion
sure they are catching them......how many...not many

I would definitely have to agree with this statement! I called every bait shop on Pymatuning yesterday. All the shops but one said the same thing; "People were catching walleye and crappie on a consistent basis". I am not going to mention any names, because I don't think that would be fair. But it would be easy to figure out!

Does it hurt to actually be honest when someone calls on the phone to get a report? With $4 gas on the horizon, a little honesty goes a long way! Not shops looking to bring business with false reports. But that's my opinion. I was a regular at another shop until yesterday. Another shop has just got a lot more of my business because of the honesty.

Take it for what it's worth. Just an opinion. Remember that!

Do you have your favorite spots or do you just fish where the rest of the crowd goes? Lots of guys catch fish because they have spots away from the crowd that produce for them all year. These may be the guys the baitshop are talking about. If you're confident in your ability to catch fish and have spots that you know hold fish, the price of gas shouldn't be the issue. Dont go if you dont have the confidence. Wait til everybody shows you where they are.

Chauncy-

I have no problem catching fish at Pymatuning when I go. That being said, I only go when conditions are conducive for catching fish. 38 degree water temps. and choppy, muddy water are not my idea of good fishing conditions. So when other people STRETCH the truth to get anglers to come and spend money...that's what I am trying to get across.

spillway at 6:00 looked like first day of trout or remember the trout pond at seaworld was not able to stop to check if the bite is on but one good sign is the fish comm was there dressed in referee uniforms i just wish they could stay there long enough to make sure people are catching not snaging
