can i launch a 14 ft trailered boat at mahoning these days? i hear that the winter pool level has been maintained very low and we've had very little rain this spring so i wonder if i should use the canoe instead.

Milton Loop is usually good until about mid July, after then it stinks too much like a barnyard from all the horse poo along the ramp!

The lower ramp (Sportsman's) is better if you want faster access to the deeper water, otherwise it is a very long ride to the lower end with low horsepower!
The last time I was to the lower ramp the road was lousy...potholes the size of bomb craters!

I agree with the road to Sportsmens. The road is very bad and narrow. I advise against taking larger boats there. I took my 18' there and will never do it again. Ill stick with the canoe.

Just wondered, when we used to fish it we always used Milton Loop. First time I fished it I used the sportsmans ramp, my boat was covered with dust from the crappy dirt road. We quit fishing there because of the "Blue Navy Effect"...

Milton Loop will be too shallow to use until they get the water built back up. Call the number that I previously posted for updates on water level. If you launch at Milton, you can do fairly well fishing the edges for crappie and perch. I prefer to use the sportsmans launch because it is much closer to my honeyholes. I agree with the condition of the road, though. Those pot holes are ridiculous. Also, you have to hope that you don't pass another boat on your way down or up. The road is very narrow (as someone else already said). Righ off of the ramp is very good for huge catfish, but you usually have to fight the Amish for a spot.
