Yeah, I'm usually on the boat when @ Sugar, but I have got em from shore @ the PFBC launch. (at night)
I would have guessed you'd get some @ Shaws...the nighttime is the righttime.
Geneva swamp would be a good spot to try too...with a good shot at some bowfin. (actually, probably more bowfin than bullheadz in there)

ive never fished for cats at french creek, but i know its a frustrating river.
 
i kinda gave up fishing  it much in the summer. if you go in a boat i think thats your best bet now, would be cool to see some big cats caught out of there tho.
 
so much of the river is unfished.
