Gentlemen
This Past Saturday (the 15th) I made the drive to Erie for the 1st time in a long while. My son wanted to take his son up to fish the tribs.
We made the drive from Ky to Erie on Friday and the conditions were great. However, Saturday morning Erie showed its self. We awoke to High wind, light snow, freezing rain, and a rough lake. But we only had that day to fish, so we muddled thru. Since I am in a wheelchair, fishing was confined to "The Wall".
The morning sucked! But after a nice lunch with some good friends, the weather cleared. And fishing resumed.
My son had purchased a small (5') rod with 4 pound line so my grandson could maybe catch something small. And then, at 3:42 , , it happened. His float went under, the hook was set, and the excitement began. "Fish On" ! Since it was a very light rod and line, the fish went all over the upper end of the Wall, and my friend missed the netting, about three times, but then, netting success occurred. No sooner was the fish in the net, the small streamer came out.
It wasn't a huge Steelie, about 22" but it was hooked and landed for the 1st steelhead ever by my grandson, for his Birthday.
I am one proud and happy Pappy. If i can ever post a pic , , I'll do it
Thanks to Wood Nickle it is posted below. And you can see my son behind him yelling "Don't drop it!"
