I was up that way also. Was mainly fishin other places, but did give Tionesta Creek at/near the outflow a try and caught a lot of gills with a couple rock bass and a little smallmouth mixed in. Great fun on a light fly rod.
Its better to fish the river for some smallies. Heres a hint if u want to fish the river look for creeks running into it.
I did try the Allegheny for smallies, it was actually my second time ever fishin the river, and all I can say that hint is definitely helpful
Caught fish on one of those Rebel crayfish cranks and some on Gulp minnows. One on the fly too. Not a lot of fish(still learning the river), but enough to get me wanting to come back and try it again.
