Had a talk with the store manager Rich who is a really good guy and super helpful. He actually talked me out of buying a reel until I tried it on my pole and told me to go to Pineville as they should have them there.
Here is the skinny on what is going on with Cortland. A group of investors has bought the company and it is in a transition stage. They will stop making a few things and add a few more, switch suppliers on things ect. Alot of production at the plant has stopped during this transition stage. He said they are having some issues replacing warranty poles due to not having any blanks. Hope it is not the case, but this leads me to believe they may be switching to "cheaper" manufacturers for many things such as pole blanks. He also said in the next month or so they will be having a closeout sale on materials, reels and poles when they switch some stuff out and discontinue other stuff. He took my e mail and said he will let me know when the sale comes up.
