Thanks to those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom and to all those that put themselves in harm's way, that we may continue to be free.
Some observations:
!. The river was crowded
2. 3fan is as good a rower as he is a good guy.
3. Sometimes crowds can be ignored if the friends your with are of good quality and you catch the occasional fish.
4. Many productive patterns this weekend, nymphs and yellow eggs leading the list. Type of water and presentation probably more key.
5. I lost many fish from tightening up way too soon to control the fish because of the crowds.
6. The river was crowded.

I had a good time, but will have to re-evaluate what I want out of fishing the SR. We'll see what the winter brings. I enjoyed the company of friends, not so much the other people.  Thanks to HT, Lance , John, 3fan, and Pafisher for making it decent. Jack, I wish i could have fished with you longer- do well up there this week.  If I can walk in this winter and work my azz off in an empty section  for a few fish I'll be happy.
If you can make a mid- week day, it might help a little.

Thanks for the post.  Looks like you did well regardless of the crowds.

Great Pics Charlie I agree with #3 but I think we would have had a great time even if the fish didnt hit. Hope we can fish again and next time Ill bring the heater, and tell Nancy to get her license, love to see her get one!

Looks like you did OK.  Will hit it tomorrow or the next, probably about where you are standing among other places

Charlie.... quite impressive!!! I too have been questioning "what it is i want from the river" for about six or so years now... to me lately, its all about how, when, and where... tight lines brother and hope to see you on a high snow bank in a few months!

The single most important thing I always try and remember when seeing  crowds and start to get a bit disappointed is that THEY are doing basically the same thing as me for the same reasons.
To them I am another guy in the crowd.

John, I'll get Nanc a license, she has reeled in stripers and small trout and bass, she'd  enjoy it.  Believe me, I'll stay in touch.   Had snow on the ground here this morning, Dime. I'll keep in shape to break trail, it's worth it to me. It's all about individual's choice, RG.  I could have found some less crowded places, even with the numbers of people. I chose to fish around friends.   Soon, they'll be off doing other things and I'll still be fishing. Then, I'll choose where and what I want to do.  John rowed us through some open spots even with the full parking lots. They'll be more soon.

Hey Charlie- I always seem to find open water even in Shark season- might not always be prime real estate but as you say there are  always open places when ya look- lol- winter increases the chances of finding them in Prime spots, hopefully without the breaking trail thingie.
Nice to see you boat guys having great times looked like some great trips. Have an open invite on a guide friends boat and havent been able to hook up with all the BS goin on here in Ct- SOON.

i feel ya on this one brother.
spots that i fished during salmon because for salmon season weren't as crowded were almost (i repeat almost) as crowded last week.
Still plenty of water to fish, and as it worked out my first choice was open, but until now i have seen few steelheaders there.
freaky for an introverted hermit like me.
you look to winter,my arthritic bones not so much.
i guess i have to hope i can get my fill, doubtful, during the short window between the heavy shark crowds and the arrival of the steel horde.
trouble is that if there are trout present i have to see the salmon  'fisherme ' snag um and drag um.
maybe a steel tag.
once you have punched it you are done for the day.
no more i am fishing for salmon or browns, you make the decision to keep it and are done for the day.
or you release and continue.
you could still rope 3 salmon and fish for steel, two if you are going to keep a chromer.
wouldn't effect the liners and snaggers that are in it for the"sport"
but it might give people a chance to keep a fish if they want and still help mlimit the crowd.
maybe$10 a card, if you don't want to keep a dimebrite :) you don't have to purchase but if caught with one and no card punched $500 fine.
what do you guys think.
