Aint it funny how a half mile or so can make a big difference... You guys missed out clint!!! Lol :)

I plowed a solid 16"s yesterday afternoon... pulaski last night still had 12 in unplowed areas... richland had reports of 14.5 but im sure some areas got more... the tug got 20+ in some areas!!! Cold temps for a few days with a supposed heat wave next week

I'll never forget what I saw traveling North out of 'cuse on 81 yrs ago in November. We were on our way for a Steelie trip and it was bright and sunny, looking North we saw what looked like a dark curtain ahead, when we got there it was HEAVY snow falling,it looked like someone drew a line and said on this side it will be clear and the other side it will be snow, from that point up it was snow and the road was covered.I threw my Jeep into 4 WD and slowed down to 45 -50,lots of others flew by in the haste to go somewhere. As we went on to Pulaski we saw several wrecks,I guess they did n't see the snow through their sunglasses.

Got to Altmar a few years back into a pure whiteout. Fluffy snow was deep and flying over my hood into the windshield. Was goin bout 25 and the road seemed dry underneath- only issue in the heavy snow was knowing where the heck the road was.
Missed the Pineville turn- didnt even see the bait shop- and had to turn around at Whites and go back. Was really worried about the bridge and hill on the other side but that fluffy very deep snow  just moved on outa the way.
Coupla days later it had packed and ya could almost walk on it. Plows pushed it about 4 feet deep in the driveway mouth AFTER  I had driven in- was stuck till I got plowed out- lol.
That snow belt with the 'lake effect' is something very different.

January 2008 I had to bring my daughter back to SUNY Oswego for the Spring semester.  I had planned a drift boat trip on the SR to coincide with that task.  A day or two prior to heading north the lake effect dumped an amount of snow measured in feet not inches on the eastern basin.  The ride up was perfect with little or no snow accumulation all the way to Fulton, that's where everything changed.  The sides of the road had a little more than a few inches until we exited RT. 481 and proceeded through Fulton.  It was as if someone flipped on a light switch with mounds of snow ten to twelve feet high.  Spent that night debating the merits of sticking around to fish after dropping my daughter off at school.  I chose to cancel my trip and get out of town before another wintry blast hit the area.  The guide offered no argument when I called to cancel.

Nice stories guys... i have a feeling this is gonna be one of those few page threads that get carried out through the winter..lol

Ive been in and drove through quite a few 2+ dumpings... 07 takes the cake for sure.. i roled in to town a few days after the inital squalll came through and the estimated 10-12 foot had settled to a solid six foot... after digging out for two days there was still a fresh 6-10 inches each morning!!! The crazy thing about that year was it was warm and snowless up until mid february... but once it started it didnt stop!!!

07 was CRAZY   I live in a 2 story cape and after shoveling the roof I could walk right down the bank.   Had to get the back hoe out to move the snow away from the garage so the snow could slide off the roof.   I have driven through so many white outs things most people consider bad I consider a flurry

When 2bob and I were first exploring up there, it ws August, and we would fish the SR in the AM looking for early kings, then make camp for the overnight , then head up on the hill and drive around looking for trout streams, not knowing they were ALL trout streams.  We went through Adams into Barnes Corners on one trip and were marvelling at all the houses with doors on the second floor.  After a couple of winters around there it was perfectly logical.  I hear the Watertown Hospital issues snowshoes to the newborns!  And Palermo to Fulton is hell from now until the lake chills down big time, around mid March.

Up in some of those spots Dime and Clint like to go to, except 25 miles inland.  There is one spot we found up there where a trib comes in to the main stream, and you could drop a 16 dry in one spot and get a rise from a brookie and 6 feet out in the flow get a largemouth on a maribou!

Take your thoughts off all that snow we are going to be moving and wading through to get to water and (hopefully) fish  for the next few months.
