I've seen a number of them in North Park Lake in Allegheny County the last couple of years. That's the first time I've ever seen them. Just watching while I fish, they seem pretty aggressive.  I don't see them later in the year. Not sure
if they move around or they are just harder to see after spring

I lived in SC for a while, they allowed cormorant hunting on Lake Moultrie and Marian.  Back in 2014 they killed 11,000 of them.  They are tough on fish populations.

We definitely need the same thing in Pa.

Hit Arthur this morning at 7:30am or so, Muddy Creek side.  I've never seen so many people in my life.  It was like the worst parts of going to a sporting event, plus boats.  Water is still a bit cold but we caught a couple fish.  Everyone who thought Arthur was overfished before this year you had no idea.

Also, if you are one of the 16 jerkoffs roaring your bASSboat down the fingers at top speed past dozens of guys trying to fish... you suck.  Dishonorable mention to the sheer number of "20HP" evinrude/johnson engines out today.  The guy with the 80HP yamaha would have made less wake than you and your flat bottomed POS.

The weather was about as nice as you can ask for on Arthur though.

yeah could not believe the amount of people on the lake for the past couple of months, its a zoo everyday, just people everywhere, kayaks coming by you 5 at a time 30 ft away while your anchored , boats every 100 ft along the bank, really good we got no ice fishing in this last season, because the fish are getting hit hard. and my god people learn how to launch or load a boat in less than 30 min

This is nuts. And response here edited, please read it all.

I spent the day at North Park today. First time since moving from the south side to the south hills. Takes about as long as getting to Artie, so confirms why this was first time since.

But to get to my point...

Regardless of where all of us regular anglers go, Schiltz is getting crowded wherever we go.

Mid week is the new weekend. Weekend is like going to be the Kennywood to fish. Minus the potatoepatch fries.

The fish are biting like they always have on Artie. If you either A) You know what you are doing. B) have a kid that knows what they are doing like Crappiefisher and piggieback off of his skillz. (Lucky bassturd) C) Be at the right place at the right time when they are biting (like me a few times). D) Don’t catch anything (like me most other days).

Regardless. This is insane for pressure on the lake. Coolers might not be filled, but many are leaving with a few. Mine has many times, like it always has.

I hate telling/pleading/suggesting to others while times are tight, but honestly look at it the math. This might get ugly for years...

Guys fishing for food. The state with years of spending Our fish $ elsewhere. State going into debt like never before. Who honestly thinks things are going to come out favorably?

I for one am going to do a bit more C&R. I am in no way a conservationist I always love a fish fry. For those like me that like a fry, one or two (or more) less fries this year, might help for years.

BeenThereDoneThat.
Reminds me of the good ole days.

Family and friends getting together for a day on the water. Says to me, just how disrupted family life has become over the years. Interesting, we still have our 'puters & electronic games but yet we see so many enjoying the outdoors once again.

So long story short, are electronics the real reason for such a drop in fishing & hunting activities we've witnessed in the past 20+ years?

Granted, back in the day, the doorknobs zooming around were few and far between, as compared to what we see today but I will say, where permitted, sail boats made up the difference.

As for over fishing.... mmmm, there is that, over population stunted growth thingy so perhaps, in the long run, maybe could be, a good thingy???

Anyways, here's to all y'all having a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

🎣Good times and tight lines.🎣

I'm still dumbfounded on why they wouldn't adopt the panfish enhanment rules? Its at Pymie and Shenago. It has taken years for the Crappies to make a strong comeback at Moraine, this "perfect storm" could be a huge setback to that progress. We did really well early in the season, so my boat hasn't seen water for about 4 or 5 weeks now. I'm not going until its time to head to the big lake. Walleye fishing should be easier than it was last year, if you can believe that!!

With some counties going green next week and other mostly yellow, maybe people will get back to work sooner than later. That would go a long way in easing pressure everywhere. I just hope its not too late for Moraine, and all lakes for that matter, to get back to some form of normal.

Little league, baseball, soccer and the Pirates have much to do with the Mother Nature outbreak.
