I whack em and gill em with the scissors. Those fillets come out very pristine after they bleed out. Thinking about taking the girls out today. Kinda windy and a little chilly right now. We'll see. Let yinz know if we go.

yes with some of the stupid rules the fish commish comes up with , they really need to fix the lighting rule on nonpowered craft, someone is going to get killed you cant see them at night, and there is just so many of them out there anymore, and they have no common sense

Why is it not a rule that ALL craft need lights at night? It's only common sense.

Small crafts must have lights too.

I read "any" boat "anchored" must display an all around white light positioned 1 meter above the craft.

While underway (includes drifting)
Manually powered craft and sail boats less than 7 meters only need carry a handheld white light "ready" to be displayed in time, to avoid a collision.

When I used my kayak at night, I built my own white light that attached behind me at about 4’ above the water surface. Other boats definitely saw me, seeing how they approached around me. I have no idea how you could get away with a handheld light while paddling.

You installed a light because you have common sense.

My favorite part is, the law prohibiting the use of spot/docking lights while underway.

Granted, a fixed light on the bow of a boat doesn't do much good pointing toward the sky at night but there are self leveling style lights that maintain a beam horizontal to the water, no matter the angle of the bow.

ummm a bow angle within reason I should say. Given the doorknobs who have no idea of properly loading a boat and their boat moves through the water at a 75 degree angle. 😋
