Spent  7 of  the 9  days  on the  river ,,   had some  okay days   had some  tough days also .   One of my buddies  caught his first steelhead  so that was a highlight  for the trip.
lower water for most of the trip ,  a  bump in the water towards the end of the trip due to the snow melt and rain. Fish seemd a little on the small size compared to  years past ,, had a mix of darker fish  along with  brighter ones mixed ..   definetly  was  hooking up with fish on the move , would have periods of  low  to no action and then short periods of action , I beleive that the fish were jsut cruising, not really holding  in any one area.  All in all a good trip certainly not the action of years past , but  with the lack of water  all fall  it is to be expected.

Good attitude, Cape. First steel is a real thrill, congrats to your buddy. Bet he'll be coming back with you for another  trip.  Glad you had a good time and  got  fish despite the conditions. I read spectacular reports on some forums, but from what I've seen with my own eyes, those days are very sparse. There's some good fisherman right here on this forum and not one person  has claimed any big numbers  on steel this fall.  I like to see people smile holding fish.  Great pic.  Lotsa fun.

Glad you had a good trip.
Sounds lke you had my year in one trip.
While the first day I hit chrome had the makings of a great day if I could have landed anything  I really can say I had two very good( that first and one where I think I went something like 9 for 9 days and if that ain't enough you're greedy),a couple good days (landing 4 or 5 while hooking a few more) and a couple skunks (they make the good days seem so much more special).
all in all a great years fishing but an OK year of catching.

I be back again to try my luck next year how bout you?

PS any more pics? I love pics.

Charlie ,
absolutely  he has already gone out and started to buy some equipment .    he is hooked for sure ..   As far as the fishing  , it is tougher than most years ,  but makes the few you get all that much  more fun and rewarding .

twobob ,
thanks ,, I will be heading up  about every two weeks  from now  till  the end of Feb ,  even though it looks like a very slow year , I will still put in my time ,, I remember the  years in the 90's  where  1 or 2 fish days where the good days .. to be honest I kinda miss those days   nothing like  a hard day  of fishing  just for a take or two .

Have kinda hinted at it a few times while posting lately but havent really put the petal down cause I havent personally been up to fish on over a month. Cept that hour and a half before having to butt out  quick in very early Nov. Reports from excellent fishermen have been very consistent though.
Cept for the huge run of Kings everything else this season IMHO is down in numbers.
Thats a sooprize after the King run which was preceded with glorious reports of a record year on the lake for about all species.
Low river fishing was good early on for all species but the Hos didnt show upriver like normal or for that matter neither did early Steel ( in usual numbers) also the Hatchery never got enough King Hens even with that huge run.
The ONLY thing I see different this year is the water level. YES pressure is up but then its reported up to numbers of the 'old days'.
Again -the water levels combined with that pressure seem to be the big thing keeping fishes in normal numbers from traveling up as usual .
IMHO many fish are going in and out like they were known to do on other Lake tribs earlier this season. Consistent decent DSR reports ( which I believe) combined with consistent low river reports of poor fishing tend to make me believe this. Its kinda VERY unusual for DSR to have some good fishing days and the regulars on the Staricase to be nearly skunked for a week after.
The fish just arent coming up in decent numbers.
