Come on rt. you x country ski . I'm sure you can still walk the 1/8 mile from the public lot then the little jaunt to the river. I already see tons of trash back there and it don't have legs. We don't need more easy access.

I does get harder the older we get , but I know the walks are good for me and the anticipation during the walk can't be beat.

Good news. I hope it goes through. Thanks for the reporting, Clint.I've climbed  over 15' mounds in the back of the lot and broke trail through 4' to get back there. I'm glad I might have a shot at doing it again.

A boost for the economy and hopefully some decent paying jobs. that would be a welcomed site anywhere in the US right now.

Well I have been hearing some rumors that the Altmar school has been sold or there is a pending sale.   Now I see a thread on SC as well.   I will ask my dad tomorrow if he has head anything from his teacher friends.   Looks like they own to the middle of the river , upper 1/3 of the south side of the barrel.   Also looks like no PFR on that side either.

Wow Clint interesting property lines along the river- After seein that it would seem any kinda pay to play is pretty much NOT the case here.
Hope Bio is still on the plate. Great for local eateries and stores too that way. Tax base too.

BUT with no PFR  from the bridge down on that side all that would need to be done is lease the Adjoining property like the DSR does..................

Will post back if I hear anything.

I'm probably not in 'sync' with a lot of folks but am kinda sensing a bit of DSR phobia goin around.
Yes- they do have way downriver- but first  it was the Ball Park rumors and Now Altmar too. Might be the beginning of the end for the SR if all that became P to P.
Somebody else trying the same thing - I could buy into that- But Hmmmm they would NOT need to spend their dough on the School - They could lease anyplace else and put up a Shoonie size building to sell their tickets and be half a million ahead with NO property tax issues. So Homey aint buyin into dat.
 Just sayn--
I'm gonna stick with the Bio thingie ( and a tax free period of 5 to 10 years for bait) that  building fits their style more than any fishing Hotel or similar venture.
Heck Portly went under as have a few along the lake too- Not enough year round business to pay the bills. Aside from Fishin Altmar aint exactly a 'Destination". Can just see it now="hey kids Disney or Altmar this year??"
Poor little Altmar gotta know they are wayyy ahead of the  game  with any  sale going forward. Most all towns and Cities do those tax incentives.
Also such a lease on the North side would have been purchased and filed BEFORE anyone in their right mind would spend half a mill plus refurbishments on the building with only  intentions of maybe gettin such a lease.
. I wish them well and am  happy they managed so quick a deal.

RG, no phobia here and I am with you. With IMHO better fishing and public access on the other side , it would be far from an optimal spot for a P to fish spot.
BUT  I am just sayn too........  there is no "public" access on that side.

As far as the Bio thing they are leaning away from the Altmar school last I heard and more leaning towards the newer, closer to 81  Parish school, but time will tell who the buyer is.

But like my grandpa used to say......
"If if and buts were candy and nuts every day would be Christmas"
IF  someone buys it we will see what they do with it,  BUT in the meantime we will have to wait and see.

Really hope it sells Clint- Altmar isnt the kind of Town with a big Cash reserve. Heck a year or two back they were talking about folding because of some minimal labor costs - Highway and Fire as I recall.
Would seem that just the continuing costs  of the School would seem prohibitive for them- that or lettin it rot.
A sale would be great for them and likely a nice shot in the fiscal arm in tough times.
