Know I'm late to respond, but wouldn't go on that ice if my life depended on it--and it may. When I was a kid, dad showed me a drilled hole w/ water level a good 3 feet below the hole due to water being let out of the outflow. You fall through there, you're dead--no hope to pull yourself up on the or be assisted by a witness.
Main lake just doesn't have the quantity of fish to risk life and limb IMO.
