Saw a pic in the Titusville paper of a pike caught out of conneaut on the ice Sunday. Didn't think there was safe ice out there yet, anyone else been on the lake?

There were people out for 2-3 days prior to the warmup and rain.

The paper made it sound like it was caught yesterday

was open water wed, i'm checking it on sat hopeful for sunday.  google conneaut lake webcam.  someone has a camera pointed at heidikouper bay.

Talked to someone that was on the ice yesterday didn't catch much he said

Was just at Conneaut lake to check conditions and fish if possible. On the south end I stepped off of one of the docks at Firemans beach and the ice gave way all around my foot-not good ice.  North end about 1 and one half to 2 inches by the inlet out to 100yds- didn't want to push my luck any farther. Fished for about an hour - never seen a fish on my camera! did not get on by the fish comm. launch-bad ice. went on at the little park by the inlet.

Ballsy move to fish out there with just 2 inches max of ice.

agreed.... don't make the divers find your body...  scary...

There were 2 shanty's set up on the northeast  end around lunch time but they were not very far from shore 50/60 yds.

Before I went out I knew who was out there by there vehicle and recognized his shanty. I also know that he outweighs me by at least 50lbs. (I weigh less than 150lbs.) I did not get too close to him or his brother (who also outweighs me by a good bit).  Before I left another pair came out which was probably the other shanty FISHIN COYOTE Seen. I was probably there an hour and in that time only one bluegill was caught between the three of us. We were only in 4 to 4 1/2 ft. of water.  The gills are there but in a little deeper water.
