That 410k i heard a few weeks ago was defintiely spot on...

Had reported hearing about that Genesee  company some time ago- the thought was a hotel as they had apparently built one in the Syracuse area- If they are builders it could be anything though.
 I'm voting for the hotel, bar and  eatery.
 Sounds like we will know tomorrow.

That's the extent of my factual  intell , but  I have heard rumpling of  this and that.   Either way I will be up until at least half time of the Cuse game and then turn in as I have to work tomorrow.

If approved it is going to be a lodge... im gonna refrain from giving out the name though. It looks as if they are going to keep the footprint of the school and possibly build cabins spread along the tree line in the back along with a pond... the birdseye foot print showed boundry lines to just before the river bank but i dont think thats the case... thats all im saying as any info on it is too fresh... besides, i did not attend the meeting... one last thing, they want to hire local employees specifically...

Question: what is this going to mean/do to the future of the river and thethe community it runs through???it is beyond exploited as is.... now youve got a company that most likely is buying a place for close to a half million and will more than likely dump another million or so in to it... what impacts do you think this will have on the region, fishery, and most importantly the community????

 Had seen a  map showing the majority of the property  line a bit back from the water behind the school - sounds like what you saw is similar.
 An upscale lodge is what was hinted  some time ago to be built by Genese if not owned by them.
 Some have tried new large capacity places  downriver like  Portly Angler but havent heard of anyone trying an upscale place with the bar and food  within. Betcha they do Ok having it all  and close walking distance from the river and LFZ too. Guys on Vacation will pay more for convenience most of the time.
     Hope they dont hurt the other places near town too much. Location  location.
  Am happy for little Altmar too. Jobs and taxes in rough times. Hope it lasts.
Considering that it likely wont bring in NEW fisherfolks but is likely to attract many that already go to SR the impact wont change much on the river IMHO =the  crowds have become commonplace.
 The top is always most crowded in Winter  and that particular area always gets pounded in King season too.  
  Thats why I why I keep out.

same as I have heard an upscale lodge.  Don't really know what it will  mean.  It will take some shore work to clean up that side for really good access as much of that shoreline has alot of trees hanging over it.  With only ROW on the one side it will be far from a DSR type place,  and honestly te other side fishes better IMHO.    We will see though.  I hope they can make it work out side of salmon season though.  May - August can be pretty desolate up there and with cheaper lodging in town........

Im sure views are and will be very mixxed... i honestly would be surprised if there was a big enough market for them to fill a place of that size along with cabins unless they stole the business from everyone else in town... although with marketing and advertising maybe they can pull new people in to the whole scene... i guess time will tell... al i know is altmar was packed today and thats just the start of it... can this fishery sustain itself with an exponential increase of pressure???

On the flipside, i am happy to see something new with positive potential come in to altmar... something tells me the amount of for sale signs you usually see in the summer will be doubled this year :)
