Headed up to Bethel Woods next weekend for Furthur 7/15/12.  Going to spend the weekend with high school friends in Shohola, PA before going to the concert.
Probably going to the Gathering of the Vibes in Bridgeport, CT the following week at least for Friday's shows,  Phil & Friends, Weir & Hornsby, etc.
July 27th going to SPAC for Allman Brothers & Santana.
Early August headed up to Charlestown, RI for a week of R & R.  Plan to hit the beaches for some Blues, Stripers and Fluke.  Some fresh Lobsters from Point Judith will cap off the week.

Ah yes, Alvin Lee & Ten Years After, 50,000 Miles Beneath My Brain.  I remember seeing them at Gaelic Park in the Bronx circa 1972.  Opening act was Edgar Winters & White Trash.  Woodstock, NY is on the eastern side of the Catskills just outside Kingston while Bethel is further west.  Approximately seventy miles away from each other.

The times may have changed but there is a whole new generation of fans that appreciate the music of our era.  Great stuff, regardless how old, is still great.  It's the main reason I try to get out to as many concerts as I can.  These guys are not going to be around forever and neither are we.

That's great.  I have enjoyed quite a few Furthur concerts with my daughters the last couple of years.  I just wish Buffalo Springfield would tour and come to the metropolitan area.

They only got as far east as Bonnaroo.  Furay and Stills did solo gigs in the area.  I guess a half full glass is better than being empty.  Touring interferes with Furay's preaching.

I love PJ.  I used to take my girls out on the Sakarak (Capt. Mitch Chagnon) for stripers, fluke, etc. trolling the rips off Block Island with wire and parachute jigs.  Now that's work.  The old Sakarak had two fighting chairs, the mate and me would work a rod until we hooked up and then had the girls fight the fish from the chairs.  We would work the rod and they cranked the handle.  Used to fish the safe harbor near the lighthouse chucking metal after taking the girls for ice cream near Scarborough Beach. If I could have rented the house last week I would have been at the concert with bells on.  Enjoy your time up there.
