I wondered if the perch/crappie rigs would be effective.  I am just going to have to try a couple of differnet things and find what works.
 

They're ok. I  used to use them. In my experience, when you use a bobber, it's keeps your bait down with out added weight. The minnows don't rise up to the surface. It keeps them right in the strike zone. A down side is when I fish off the bottom, the line loses it's sensitivity.  I just tie on leaders instead. 

When their in cover especially the lilly pads, i use Braid line the water is always murky in the shallow end of the lake. This cuts down on losing bobbers and tackle.....
