To me its just like the gun law issue the way it stand
The criminal will do what he wants anyways.
If it wasn't against the law I could rip every fish and there would be no reason for snaggers to come near me.
But the law says I can't.
Why must honest law abiding fishermen be saddled with these laws.

As to the town drying up and blowing away if more enforcement happed.
That same arguement happened when outlawing snagging was debated.
The Mickey Ds had a sign supporting snagging in the window.
I never went in because of that.
Mickey is still there.
Might he have made more money with snagging?
It is a possibility but no way of knowing.
I do go in now (I believe there was an ownership change) and spend money that they would never have gotten before.
I know many people that would never fish trhere because of snagging but do now.
Pretty much all the businesses are still open except Tony's.
Fat Nancy's has expanded dramaticly.
Malinda took the old Smokehouse and is thriving.
While they might whine the shops that cater to real fishermen will survive nicely if not reap higher profits.
Those that depend to criminals won't.

Good point two biz... honestly, even if the fishing industry took a dump i think village of pulaski would be fine. Its a pretty self sufficient town in many ways...

Heard something last night that a bunch of the guide and lodge owners are getting together to sue Brookefield power due to the flood last week.... claiming they lost thousands of dollars... don't know if it's entirely true but it sounds like a load of crap to me. I do think Brookefield dropped the ball on that flood, but come on now; lawsuits over it... for loss of business???give me a freaking break.

i would guess very few pulaski residents are totally dependant on the fishing revenue...and if they are, if it went away they and the town would still be there and getting by....i think those like me should support the town and local shops when we can, but don't expect anything other than good service, good products and decent people....and that is what i find.....so, i enjoy my time up there, and take it as it is :)
and once in a while i get to meet and fish with some really great folks

Wouldn't they have to sue God? It is not like Brookfield did anything other than try to "best guess" the rate and timing of runoff, and as WB pointed out, they may have hurt themselves by trying to placate these same hand biters by not letting more go earlier.  If I drive to Albany to fish for Stripers, and the temperature drops and the fish shut downa nd sty 80 miles downriver, can I sue DEC and the National Weather Service.  Some esquire is going to line his pockets on this one with the plaintiff's dollars, and the defedant will pass the costs on to the consumers.

Bear,

All the Pulaski residents I know who are not involved in the fishery for monetary gain wish it would just go away.  That even includes a couple who fish!

Even if they had the res under control before it happened they still wouldve atleast run 3500 or more as there was just a ton of water that came in one shot. It still wouldve been a blow out weekend and as most know that happens in the spring pretty regularly. Took a look at the river a little before dark last night.... no one in sight... man did that look nice for a change.

Btw, tuna good to hear from ya bud
