Got in on Thurs evening to mid 60s weather-thats 30 more that a couple of weeks ago. Took a look at LFZ and it was up but fishable. Still lots of cars in most of the lots upriver.
Friday got a late start after gettin a cat out from under my place. It went nuts under there most of the night- lol.
Went to my favorite little brook in the world and found it over populated by tons of fishermen-some  fished and some had half pounds of wts. a foot above #1 hooks- thought it was the Ballpark in Sept. Made me sick. They had been pushed off the SR due to the flood conditions. Lots are empty now.
Here and there found spots alone and had some pretty good luck using a dark red bead- C&R throughout and had a nice fresh mid teen male at one point- GREAT fight in the brushy area and GREAT memory. Biguns is neat.
Came close to keeping him but took greater pleasure in the release. Fish were there but spooky from the crowds- hadda be careful and quiet and they cooperated.
Went to see the river and saw some guys fishing the lower LFZ parking lot after driving through the water overflowing the road.
It is UNSAFE to be anyplace on that river again Today too.
Had some great fishing in my 'secret' spot earlier today but the temps had dropped into the mid 30s and it sleeted, hailed and snowed- all in a nice big wind lol.
After a while guys came in from both below me and above me and I bugged out when somebody started fishing the same hole as me. Just like the big river in Shark season- no rules.
All in all a very good trip for a year I figure is down on Steel for the most part, Never thought I would hook up as much as I did and they loved those beads- never had to change what I was offering and they took them readily..
Have some real fears bout the return fish in the future with the numbers this season and the dirty silty fast big water running over the beds.
Dont know how long it will last with the big water but hope for at least one more trip- Gonna be stuck here I fear due to municipal budget woes for a couple of weeks now.
MAY-I hope I hope I hope.

Thanks RG.   May go up Monday if the creeks up north do not come down.   I did not check today, but it was my guess that that place and TB would be full of people due to the river.  I can just imagine the surprise of some guy making a 6 hour drive who did not check the gauge or the net and came up to this

Thanks Andy--
Clint- strong water is actually a good thing in there. Makes the fish move in- betcha way up even further than I go is Ok or just beginning to be OK. Seemed like very few drops and some spawning happening-  stayed away from the few spawners and actually didnt see all that many beds either- some fish were on the move coming in and looked like fresh ones too.
Frankly though its a bit late and there should have been much more activity. Friday had some snakes and lots of frogs and thats when they are generally active spawning. Kinda light-  just got kinda lucky.
Fish arent really up on the gravel much but back on the dark heavier rocks moving slowly. Likely some of that is due to the pressure though.

Hey- hope  I'v been wrong bout the quick in an out--
Report elsewhere says there are still many fresh ones coming into the hatchery in the past couple of days. GOOD.--
Perhaps the water temps drifted down with the melt and runoff slowing things a bit.

Just kidding RT bud ... water temps never really went up at all. I dont think theyve even come close to hitting 40. A few weeks back i was thinking we'd make may without hitting the 40 degree mark but with the reservoir waning and temps rising in the atmosphere; its gonna be a close call... also many fish did spawned and dropped in beaver dam weeks ago...

Always  liked  fishing in that little brook leading outa the big concrete place that looks like a sewer plant.
Especially in the cement sluice or below that little gatey thingie late at night.
Just park by the Church and walk upstream.
Know I'm  spot burning -but heck -the fishins so good there just cant keep it all to myself any longer.
Since its off the main river think the limit there is about 3--AM and again in the PM.
Lamprey spears work best in there.
