Got in on Thurs evening to mid 60s weather-thats 30 more that a couple of weeks ago. Took a look at LFZ and it was up but fishable. Still lots of cars in most of the lots upriver.
Friday got a late start after gettin a cat out from under my place. It went nuts under there most of the night- lol.
Went to my favorite little brook in the world and found it over populated by tons of fishermen-some fished and some had half pounds of wts. a foot above #1 hooks- thought it was the Ballpark in Sept. Made me sick. They had been pushed off the SR due to the flood conditions. Lots are empty now.
Here and there found spots alone and had some pretty good luck using a dark red bead- C&R throughout and had a nice fresh mid teen male at one point- GREAT fight in the brushy area and GREAT memory. Biguns is neat.
Came close to keeping him but took greater pleasure in the release. Fish were there but spooky from the crowds- hadda be careful and quiet and they cooperated.
Went to see the river and saw some guys fishing the lower LFZ parking lot after driving through the water overflowing the road.
It is UNSAFE to be anyplace on that river again Today too.
Had some great fishing in my 'secret' spot earlier today but the temps had dropped into the mid 30s and it sleeted, hailed and snowed- all in a nice big wind lol.
After a while guys came in from both below me and above me and I bugged out when somebody started fishing the same hole as me. Just like the big river in Shark season- no rules.
All in all a very good trip for a year I figure is down on Steel for the most part, Never thought I would hook up as much as I did and they loved those beads- never had to change what I was offering and they took them readily..
Have some real fears bout the return fish in the future with the numbers this season and the dirty silty fast big water running over the beds.
Dont know how long it will last with the big water but hope for at least one more trip- Gonna be stuck here I fear due to municipal budget woes for a couple of weeks now.
MAY-I hope I hope I hope.
