Dang fichy I'm jealous, you got a place to park a RV nearby, for a few months? ummm,... during summer? 😁

Congratulations👍

No need to worry about all the fishing areas you mentioned... I don't spot burn🙄 Honest😬

Good times and tight lines.

Hey Charlie- how was the trip to SR ??
Thinking of a couple of days in a week or so before our Deer season with my youngest son.
Might try the noodle with sacs this time around.

Actually left the river a day early to go check out (hike to, not fish) a few  brookie ponds in the western dacks. One worth returning to! I only saw  a few zebras, ones I saw hooked were black upriver and in the belly. I heard there were steel in the upper, but you'd have to really  hunt. I talked to a number of guys from up to 8 hours away that said this is their last trip. A guy above me in the DSR landed a nice steel sideways with the usual marble and a midge. The Spey guys I was around and all those trying legally got zip.  I'd estimate I saw several hundred man hours without a fish.  I don't know what mid-river was like, maybe better.  Unfortunately, I don't fish for serenity or scenery, if I ain't catching I ain't happy. I really should have gone to the coast, from now on I'll stick with it. I'm not making a statement on how many fish, or what methods to use on the SR, I'm saying, for me, it wasn't good. Going less and less for me has taken its toll. I'm about clueless. If you know what your doing, there's probably fish to be caught. My confidence level for the SR has gone into negative numbers. So, as this ain't my personal blog, I'll  just wish others best of fishing and thanks for the info and encouragement. Maybe next year. You'll do alright, Trev, you got the skills.

Thanks for the report  Charlie- might try bluegill fishing in the local reservoir with the kindergartener kids instead-lol.
Pretty much as I thought- sideways fish being reported- although, in reality, a certain run with a certain rock or two are calling.
Although they try and put a pretty bow on it even the DSR reports stink lately.
Not surprised to hear guys saying 'last trip'- after reading over many years of my reports there is a general trend over the last few for progressively poorer fishing.
Have been saying for a while that- unfortunately- Pulaski may see change.

I'm with you fichy. If in not catching fish in a setting like that I'm not very happy.
Glad you explored some pond. If ever in the mood, check out burge pond above crane.
Pharoah wilderness is kinda busy a peak times, there are tons of trails and bushwacks to nice places too that get no pressure. Crane pond rd is not for faint of heart to drive into but can be done.
Long trail access off 78 is all hike in.

As for fishing myself.
It really is about my surroundings. I don't care how many fish are piled up anywhere, I can't no longer tolerate D- bags. There are usually plenty in a crowd.
Like you maybe, we go to our go to places knowing the times and places to have an enjoyable time.
I used to hunt public areas where deer were a plenty. Opening day sounded like Vietnam and most everyone was loading their trucks with game. Wouldn't catch me there now or the last 33 years. I'm at peace with my outdoors activities.
20 weeks of walking on water ahead 😀

I should had a report but it was not to be. I walked into my spot at about a mile only to find the top section of my pole was gone (4pc) a trip back to the car confirmed my fear that I had snagged it on something and it pulled off. The pole was not strung, my bad , my fault. I walked there and back again with no luck. At that point I was wet and tired and with the deluge starting I just went home dejected. A quick call to TFO and they said it would indeed be covered by the lifetime warranty. It will cost $35 plus shipping there  , but it will be replaced and they will check over the pole, there was a loose eye that I rewrapped and they will fix that too. I saw absolutely  NO ONE in my walking there, back twice.

Bummer Clint. At least you got a walk in the park. I envy the local folks that while it's a wasted time, from my point it's a 3 plus hr one way road trip.
I'm paring down on my wasted times in a vehicle as best I can.

Hope you give us a good report this weekend while I sit in a tree

8 of us fished the DSR last week for 3 days.  It was very tuff fishing.  We did manage fish the first two days but not many.  Saturday we fished the Meadow and did Pretty well with most of the group landing 4-5 each.  But those were all taken in the morning early then the bite dried off.

Thanks for the accurate report- glad you got into some.
Have found that -even in the best of times- Steel are tough to catch, although some days can be great.
When its tough down low its tougher upriver IMHO until they start to stack as time goes on.
Seems that most species this uncommon year are gonna continue to be thin.
Gotta keep expectations low.
That said your last morning is the stuff that keeps ya coming back-GREAT.

Ya never know with Steel till the season gets going, they certainly didn't pile in this time with the Kings.
Have been up in years where one Steel in a couple of days was a real good trip and others where they were on my little blue sacs on and off for hours.

Was planning on coming up this weekend. Haven’t been up there when the water came up this high. Is it still fishable?
