Ed, IMO too many things can happen if you wait, most of them bad, like him moving out, other hunters moving in,getting hit by a vehicle etc. I say strike when the iron is hot.  sam

where are the doe? thats where the big boy will be. are they there or where you hunt. if you see most of the doe there i would move. he will kick the other smaller bucks out and stick with his doe. no scent, some scent works and some dont, but none of the scents smell 100% real. they all have additives to preserve them witch make them smell different and may spook most smarter bucks. scent proof and play the wind.

and dont over hunt the stand. maybe put one in both places and hunt them according to the wind.

+1 there. I've already burned 2 stands. No way a buck will be cruisin that area. Got other options tho. Gonna give the property a break and hit em hard at the end of the month.

Deer change food sources quickly this time of year. Look for hot oaks droppin acorns, close to the sightings, and stake them out....WF... They will come....or wait a few weeks.

The bigger bucks know it is not time yet to waste much energy chasing does that are uninterested. Food is still key but it is changing rapidly this time of the year. The white oaks are drying up around here. I checked some red oaks yesterday and they are beginning to drop with a lot up there to come down.

I have seen bucks still traveling together. Two more weeks fellas then things will change with funnels and doe bedding areas being the keys. Until then, food still is up top.

Consider how the buck will be keeping tabs on his little harem.

Most likely by vision and smell so terrain and wind direction will be important. We take advantage of height and so will he. We certainly can't smell the deer but we know they can smell us so, we stay down wind and so will he.

Use the smaller bucks to your advantage as they know when the class bully is nearby.

Just some food for thought.....

Most of our oaks are down and have been for a week or more. Several high wind days helped them along.
Have one active small buck in my area with a scrape line around the perimeter of a block of woods.
Watched a legal but small buck work a sapling two days ago.
So far in 18 sits out of 8 different locations have had 5 small bucks, one smaller but legal buck and one doe in shooting range.
It's still a bit early.
