I'm thinking about trying out the river in the general area downstream of Franklin on saturday.  Just wondering if anyone has had any recent success and any thoughts in general.  It will be my first time on this stretch so I'm pretty excited.  The temperature is supposed to drop from the 70's on thursday to the low 60s on friday and saturday.  hopefully that does not turn of the fishing action

Thoughts in general, the water levels look ideal for a float and the change of air temp should not affect the water much,  barometric pressure can have differing affects but rains, for me at least, usually produce active catches.  As long as no large rain storms hit muddying the river you should have a decent trip!  Good luck!

Yeah hopefully all these thunderstorms dont affect that stretch of the allegheny.  The water temps seem decent for wading (which is what I'll be doing).  Going to be a lot of fun, and it will be my first trip this season.  Very excited.

Better fishing above Oil City, not below Franklin.

Based on what?

well, you can all rest easy, i caught one bass (albeit one nice sized bass) today so there is no reason to worry about the well being of the allegheny river as a fishery

Based on my 47 years of fishing every nook and cranny from February - mid-December, 10 miles north of Oil City to five miles below Fisherman's Cove. Got any more questions. sonny?

Not for you.  47 years?  Your posts are more appropriate for a middle school student.
