hey folks, I kinda been off my game on the fishing dept but hopefully that will change starting friday..
Here are just a few more shots of my short , basically 6 day run on stripers.. The pic's suck and I was mostly alone.. Only kept 1 fish myself so thats really the only good one in the bunch..

After that this was a few from last weeks total colapse of conditions on the Ausable..
Again very few pics taken and I didn't want to trash the ole' ladys camera too bad..
Hope you enjoy, look forward to MANY more from me and I will look forward to yours as well..

Very nice Rich, someday I will get up there for those Stripers.
Those trout from the river are very nice for stockies, around here most of the state stocked fish are ssmmaallll,8"-10",at least they were the last few years.I'm trying to get into the fly fishing again for the local native/stocked trout and am buying stuff to tie those tiny flies that they like. The last 20 yrs I've been concentrating on the trib fishing, different equipment than the local scene.

Great Pix, HT.  Good to hear you were not frozen to D w that sudden spring blizzard!

I have also been playing with the local stockies and also have been pleasantly surprised by a few "perfect" little brown trout  (no fin wear, no tail changes, full colors, only 7" long) in streams that only a few years ago were only put and take streams, so things are looking up for the next generations.  I am also finding out why, when I was last in this small stream, small fly game I didn't see a lot of old timers out for the spinner falls (threading flies onto 5x in the near dark, even with a light, is quite a challenge anymore), and after about 15 years of tying where a number 10 Skykomish was small, parachute dries on size 18 hooks are nearly impossible!  But it beats coming home and listening to the neighborhood siren concerts every night, and there is still a thrill to watching a 12" fish come up for a floater, even if he spent youth in a concrete raceway.

Another 2-3 weeks of flyflinging, and then it is 9 days of Jazz from 5:30 to 11:30 every night!
Maybe I'll have a camera by the time I hit the 'daks in July.

Was going to go out this afternoon at around 4 , but the  winds a pretty bad at 13 to 15 with some larger gusts.   With T storms a possibility I have seen that lake go from OK to bad to worse in no time.   With just a 14 foot boat  I will probably stay in

Bummer Clint, maybe a night bite cruse if the winds die and T-storms hold off.

Well my wife wanted to go yakin this morning. Told her I had TONS of things to do around the house.. Then I got thinking, what better way to spend some quality time together, with my rod & reel of course.. I blew off the yard work and obliged my wife..
Only took 1 pic of many caught.. All were spared for another day as didn't feel like cleaning fish:

Finally I got home and worked my butt off just to plant a fraction of my garden, mess with the pool but looks like the lawn mowing will have to wait.. Neighbors are used to tall grass here as they are all 6' under and very peaceful..

I always said the best lawns in the neighborhood are at the local cemetery.

Well my nephew called me a 430 and asked if we were going.   The winds were moderate, but he sounded like he wanted to go bad and who am I to turn down a kid who wants to go fishing.   Went out of Godfrey  at 600. Wind was from the south and there was a good chop, but it was manageable  and a good drift from deep to shallow.  Fished all around there, but no waldo's .   We got and huge bass, a white perch and a pretty big rock bass. The rock bass was one of the biggest I have seen and when he got it on he tried to hand me the pole because he was so excited.  One of the bigger fish he has caught.   At around 830.  A small front went through and man did it get bad fast,  lightning, wind, but only a few drops of rain.    Everyone high tailed it off.   It blew right through,  by the time were we were driving through Constantia wind was next to nothing and barely a chop.

I think I might be turning him on to it so I may have a new partner for steel this fall.    Some pics tomorrow
