Renting a cabin in Clarington next week...just want to know what I can expect fishing the river, never been there before. Hoping for smallies, any chance of much else? Any tips as far as lures to use are welcome as well.

as Bluelagoon said. walleye are in there but in selected areas. big catfish are in the clarion also. rebel crawdads and small rapalas for smallies. if the water is real clear mr. twisters work.

my camp is in clarington, cherry run road, no doubt
your renting from tom also on cherry run, any how
head up river on river rd. you come to millstone creek where
they stock trout and if you turn left there you can fish it all way to loletta
but to stay on clarion go right there and go to bridge at rt 949 , i would
not cross bridge but stay on river rd. where you can start fishing all way
to spring creek , where the bridge is out , there are numerous wall
hanger trout in that area along with bass, walleye, cats, etc.
while there stop at the halton hilton for a brew you won't forget

The Halton would be an experience for anyone who hasn't been there.  The fishing can be tremendous as well.

Just got back from three days of fishing up there...river was high and muddy after lots or rain Monday and Tuesday.    Creek fishing was decent on some of the smaller streams, and when the river comes down it should be good as it is still pretty cool for this time of year.   If you can manage a float trip on the river, I would do it.  We throw large spinners, spoons, and jigs for just about everything.

FYI - lots of road construction everywhere up there.  And we were told the Spring Creek bridge is supposed to be finished in two weeks - it looks so much different with the old one gone.

Good info thanks! Looks like the cabin isn't far from Cherry run, it's right off of Belltown/ River road. I am stoked!
