Your spot on Dime. The early run fish never seem to like the pressure that a 750 + flow provides. But when that flow is knocked back to 335 they feel that pressure drop and go for it. Watched numerous fish in the past run the edges in the slack water just to avoided that strong current. Had a Phil Robertson look alike tell me years ago when the water is up stay out of it, the fish will run past your feet, then he proceeded to show me as a line of kings paraded past in a foot of water while the river was at 750. They hate that increased flow. But they will use it to their advantage when hooked. Lol

Yeah chart, ya win some and you lose some. There were pods of fish up in town on Friday and Saturday...then mid river after that. Turned in to more guys than fish though... from all of em getting slashed and played and then dying...honestly, from what I've seen there were more fish 3 weeks ago. Good luck with your next trip

My question is......where is the DEC with all the "slashing" going on? Maybe they were at McDonalds having lunch?
Same old, same old,if it was n't for my secret spot Pulaski would never see me before Halloween.

Fella complaining on another forum about reports lately including DSR. Didnt sound happy. Mighta felt misled.
He may well feel that way if he fished this past weekend in higher conditions a few days AFTER a nice push which was preceded by a few poor days after the preceding nice push. All with the resulting nice reports of fish.
Nice push is relative considering it was AUGUST.
When there are only a couple of hundred more or less' regulars' out there spread around the whole river and only one or two cars in a lot this time of year decent reports come in from what most some guys may consider not so great fishing ..
Not knocking seasonal or occasional- its just a different ball game. Fish are here today gone tomorrow-and likely nobody else in sight while your at it - and EXPECTED to be that way too.
Guys go out and fish to a few unmolested fish and score- and report it. Dsr has the mini runs come through with fish in close proximity till they go up and spread so their reports are good too.
It IS NOT like days of old where every call and report was fantastic. IMHO being up there quite a bit the reporting of the past few years has been very accurate and honest.
Havent read one yet that didnt in some way or another sooner or later express some surprise  about the August fishing this year.

very true retired....its all in how you view your day and what expectations you have....on that other site there are many (maybe most since alot of the old guard got banned) newbies, and when they hear there is a run they expect go up and haul in a load of fish and when that doesn't happen they complain....to me like many on here post frequently, just go fish
some of the best days i've had have been one fish days :)

I have noticed on the other sites as well there are a few that will post about hot action when there is none.   I think they want people to read and come up and then be disappointed.  When they do not post much the fishing is good.    It all goes back to the entitlement our society feels they DESERVE as it is a me me me world now
