My condolences man.    Nothin' worse than putting down your best buddy.   I have one now that although he is healthy, his best years are behind him.
 
My dogs are my kids and I love them dearly........   today I shed a tear with you in remembrance.
 
I have sometimes thought of the final cause of dogs having such short lives and I am quite satisfied it is in compassion to the human race; for if we suffer so much in losing a dog after an acquaintance of ten or twelve years, what would it be if they were to live double that time?

Probably the worst day of my life was putting my Springer Spaniel down in 2006. 

I feel for you they are like our kids  my golden was 16yrs when I had to carry him in and put him to sleep I have lost family and lost friends that died in my arms but I tell you more tears came when he closed his big brown eyes for the last time  hang in there and always remember those good times with him

You guys can laugh at this I do not care...
I had my CAT 13 yrs old fade away on me this spring finally had to carry him into vet and put him down. In his final moments he just wrapped his paws around my hand like a mini bear hug something I will never forget. Funny how a pet can be such a important part of your life I think it is b/c they do not play by the same rules us humans do....OK I am done rambling it gets better with time but you never forget em'.....WCW

Sorry for your loss. I understand been there many times. t does get better with time. Just remember you gave him the best life he could every ask for. Take care

Very sorry for your loss,been there and I know what your feeling.As others said take comfort in knowing your best friend had a great life and friend in you.That's the best we all can hope for.

Having the worst day?
He knew and would leave my side.
Brushing up against me, putting his head on my lap, forceing me to pet him.
I believe not because it felt good to him but because he knew it waould calm me and make ME FEEL BETTER.
Small children pulling his tail or ears and he'd look at with eyes saying ,really, really and just taking it in stride.
Most gental dog in the world........but I would have been the person or thing that was trying to harm my wife or me with him around.
