Got in very late Monday
Tuesday was one of those days a Sportsman can never forget.
Woke to steady  light rain and some thunder so slept in and then watched the back yard over coffee for a long time. The Deer just kept coming and coming to eat my apples and grasses - right  till the rain stopped mid morning. Then  mowed for a few hours.
In the Afternoon went  mid lower  River and the fish were THERE. Folks,  fished till  was bone weary and worn out in the mid 80s heat. Just wore felt bottom shoes and jeans.
Please believe me- hundreds upon hundreds of fish ran up in front of me from bank to bank and as far up and down as I could see-most running  very fast- like that for HOURS. VERY strong and willing fish- no problem with releases - they just took right off again- Fresh, bright  and all with the fin.
The first was a very respectable Steelhead then King after King. As spotty as this time of year can get it was really nice to be in the right spot at the right time.
Today went further up and then much further up looking for that big bunch- no go.
Went back lower to a decent steady pick in the area visited yesterday. Fished till worn out again.
Was gonna fish tomorrow Am then come home but its out 43rd Anniversary  so  came back today. Some things ya just gotta do- lol.
Bugged out bout 5 and rain most of the way back to CT. Was in the mid 80s in Pulaski and mid 60s bout 30 miles out in the rain.
Trips up are always nice but this was AWESOME.

Pretty sure I know where they were- just too hot and lazy to walk in that far lol. They were so fast think they got up pretty far overnight  before the bright sun and heat slowed them down today. IMHO
Should point out  was well above the crowds so these fish were what was left AFTER the keepers got to them. Still bright shiny and runnin hard in great numbers too.
Had it on my mind that last year some attributed the lower to mid  river heavy natural spawn to the water levels- gotta wonder though.

Awesome Trevor...simply awesome. My father and I were chatting last night on how strong these fish are. Thank god they have decent water flow to use their true strength. Great to hear you hit em good

Good luck when ya get there Bear. We both prefer the upper river but dont rule out the lower mid if its slow up top.
Andy- decided to use the  9 foot 10 wt. Glad I did - stayed with it both days. Some were into the backing in a nanosecond.
 Hey--NO deads around either.

Glad to hear you got into them. I have a couple of trips planned but already mentioned to my son how were going to be sick next friday from work and school. I'm sure we will get into them some where we sure don't mind walking.

The Circus is certainly starting to set up in town. I was a bit above it but it was startin to be crowded even mid week in early Sept. Up top the lots are still far from crowded. Kinda says most of the fish are low but the quality fishing may be a bit further up.
When the fish are that packed and running its almost impossible not to line or foul some. Too much meat in the water and something is gonna find the hook intended or not.
Might well be movin on up a bit for some hikes  on future ventures..

Nice report.  I want to hear more about the deer.  Fish for salmon during the day and bow hunt for deer in the late afternoon.  October 1 if its brown its down.
