I'm planning on taking my family up to the campground at Jamestown for 3 day next week, and I would like to get my 5 & 6 year old sons into some Crappie while we are there. So I'm looking for some advice from some of you guys who fish this lake a lot, which do you think would be more productive
1) stay near the South end and look for deep structure?
2) head up to Linesville and fish around the stumps?

(I know that there was another thread looking for info on Pyme but it seemed to be focused more on eyes and while I'd love to get into some eyes, I'm more interested finding Crappie for the boys)
Thanks for any help you all can give me! If you would prefer to PM me instead of posting on this thread that is fine.
Tight lines & God bless!
John

H3Fisher thanks for the reply.
What is a Bear Claw Clamp? I've never heard of one before. I googled it, but the only thing I saw was a clamp for fletching arrows

Gotcha, thanks H3Fisher.
So you did well around the stumps?

You got three days spend an afternoon in the stumps and see what happens. The channel cats are really hitting good all around the lake, and they put up a hell of a fight.

BTW I was doing really well at the third stump off of Harris island last weekend.

I would say the best advice would be to get your sons excited about catching cats. I was up there yesterday (8/14/13), put in at Snodgrass first, all cats. Went to Linesville, fished stumps, onion fields, all cats all day long.

Thanks for the replies guys, as of now I'm planning on doing what most of you have said and drifting around, through, over the stumps with minnies. I'll also try dragging a night crawler on a floating Jig head for some cats or whatever else might bite.
Hopefully we'll have enough action to keep the boys entertained.
