I used to buy skein like that at poor Richards in erie. I wou break off a rubbery chunk and work it on a single hook. Caught a lot of steel that way.  then once you catch a new one milk it.

Had great luck with skeins bagged up after borax cure and froze. But yes, as you said membrane whitens up fast. But if the fish are in/on the steelys gobble em up. Luckys secret sounds like a good one. Gonna remember that one.

Best eggs for large trout though are loose trout eggs.

Now pour me a double skein on the rocks!!!

The Karo syrup thing came from guys in Oswego years ago.  The whisky and sugar I remember from the Russerts from Buffalo when I was a kid, but I always thought it might be a waste of good whiskey!

To funny, well thanks again guys.  I do appreciate the input as I didn't want to just throw them out.  Now all I need to do is work on that pulaski c-o-c-ktail, only 4 weeks and counting....  Apparently the database/platform/forum did not like that word and chose to throw some asterisks in there so figured I would break it up with some dashes.

Lucky, I'm not sure the whiskey would ever make it into the cure with me and my buddies around so I have to agree better let to drinking than curing.
