Action was steady from 830 till I left at 130, unreal action.

Two picks of flys were broken hooks both on the strike and thrashing that ensued. Only saw kings and only landed 2 out of many, many hookups. Great day many players and never saw another guy till I was getting ready to leave. First time in a long time the fish have outnumbered the fisherman 1000 to 1

Great pics John.  Sounds as if whoever tied those flies romped down too hard when they placed the hook in the vise.

Definitely a possibility gerry, but I honestly have broken quite a few hooks through the years. Broke quite a few in the past few weeks even and they were river side flies made with glo bug yarn and a Snell knot never even clamped In a vice. I find certain hooks will brake on 12 pound and especially 15 pound and up...

John, that sure is a strange looking lake you fished today......WAIT is that a fly swatter next to that fish?
There should be a ton of fish at my secret spot when I get there in two weeks

Heading up from Cincinnati Thursday.....Will be in the DSR section Friday and Saturday...Of course the DSR is talking up the action.  Hope it's a lot better than what I encountered Labor Day weekend.

Dime, I have never had a salmon break a hook, straighten, but never broken.  I use Tiemco's or Mustad and occasionally Daiichi.  If you romp down on the hook when placing it in the jaws of the vise it puts a score mark near the bend and weakens the metal.  Its almost like scoring a piece of glass.
I fished with 12 lb tippet last season and had a few fish straighten hooks during that early season run.
