Thought I'd hunt the "bottom lands" this morning, following a well used trail into the tall grasses and cattails looking for a place to set-up along the swamp and watch for what might be lurking about. Wasn't ten minutes after I found a good spot where I was hidden by the tall grass but yet, had two good shooting lanes to the deer trail(s). Somebody on the pond, hidden by the tall grass and cattails opened-up with a ten gauge bazooka, shooting at what I don't know but, it's been two hours now and, my hair (what little I have) on my head has yet to lay back down.
Not wanting any more of that, I reverted to 'part b' of 'plan a' which was to return home and say "screw them stupid deer"!
Sitting in my favorite deer stand, watching my flag pole as the wind tries to rip it, along with my flag, out of the ground. Playing a hunch; 'plan c' calls for returning to the bayou this afternoon, hoping this strong gusting wind will drive the elusive white-tail along the "bottom land", affording me a chance to see what one of the things look like.
In the meantime, I can only hope, the wind also drives the dude(s) with the 10 gauge bazookas to the other side of the hill. However, in the event that I might still have company I shall be prepared to answer any bazooka fire with several 3" mortars I have remaining from the 4th of July. Provided I can ignite the fuse using a Bic lighter in this stupid wind.
Pictures at 11:00........ maybe!
