Yeah ..."been there done that " ... I was kind of surprised with getting a new front end. Like the PSE bow , I had a PSE compound I used for years. Then thought getting older why not try the crossbow .. Have taken deer with both. Good luck next season do understand getting the better half thing... lol

My goodness how time does fly when your having fun.  Got about eight weeks before the opening of archery in PA. so, I'm looking at crossbows of which,............ (wait-for-it).................... I know nothing about!  But not to worry, cause I have yinz guys to help me out.

Not looking for a high caliber pricey bow, more like something in the $300.00 to $350.00 range.  A package deal, that includes the basic necessities such as bolts, quiver, scope and, cocking device.  Maybe even one of those 'special deals' where they provide free deer retrieval, butchering and, home delivery too.  That ain't asking for to much is it?

Started looking at a PSE in the mentioned price range that does include everything (except the special deal) and I feel I can take the dealers word that the package is a good buy but, I would like to hear some suggestions from yinz as for buying a PSE or, any brand, in that price range.  Might I be throwing money away trying to stay frugal?

I believe the model we are dealing on (for now) is called the "Fang".

Any do's and don'ts; should  and shouldn't s; can and can'ts will, be appreciated.

Mopars was ya able to get your problem with the scope figured out?

I was actually thinking of trading a firearm for a crossbow and as the offers were coming in I'd do a google search on the make and model number.  There's a couple of very helpful independent crossbow review sights that will give you the pros and cons of the one you're interested in.  I was surprised to read about just how noisier some models are than others or how easy it is to change your string on one model than on another.  alot of good data to help you decide.

Thanks Pike, found a sight called CrossBowReviews.com.  I see they have a sight on YouTube also and that's good cause, I learn better from pictures better than,  readin' from words.

Geeeeeeeeeeez....................... I've tried ten different archery supply outlets including three local shops and noooooooooobody has the new "2015 PSE Fang" in stock.  Called PSE directly and they too, have the crossbow on  back order........... 6 to 8 weeks!

Then I remembered a place in Michigan where I had purchased other hunting paraphernalia annnnnnnnnd BINGO they have five of the crossbows in stock.   Salesman tells me they are trying to get more but, can't get a delivery date.

They now have 4 remaining in stock!

Bought a portable blind by Ameristep also, only I got that at  my local 'big box store'.

Sure hope the better half likes getting her birthday presents early this year...............  archery season opens real soon.

PS. If somebody is looking to buy the "Fang" and can't find one, shoot me  (errrrrr) send me a pm!

PSS. The CrossBowReview sight I mentioned earlier............... save your time.

Gotta get............  gonna go wait at the end of the driveway for FedEx.

Thanks Akita,

Looked at the Micro 335 then saw the price..................................  Sticker shock!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really didn't want to spend that kind of money my first time around plus, being a complete novice to crossbows.  With the high demand for the "Fang" and the supply at such a low level, I figured resale might be a better option should my wife decide I don't like the bow.

Open for suggestions on bolts (carbon vs aluminium) and broad heads (fixed vs mechanical) and of course the mfg.s of both.

Maybe later I will be upgrading the scope, say, around X-Mass.

BTDT.... Well haven't shot the bow since I got the new front end from PSE.. I do believe some of the sighting issues were from the front end . I'll let you know.... I shoot a 20" carbon arrow ( bolt ) & use a fixed 4 blade boardhead ( 100 gr Muzzy ) but I did just get a package of 3 blade 100 gr Muzzy 1 1/4" cut fixed they were on sale so figured I would try them. You are right the season is coming upon us fast. We are going to Darlington SC over Lador Day weekend to a NASCAR race. Have to get my camera out & set up, shot bow, get in some Fall fishing man how did I ever do all this when I was working ..... Lol... Good luck this bow season

Appreciate it guys......

Crossbow sure is different, for sure.

While it requires likable skills needed for archery, the crossbow, in my book provides quite a advantage compared to a compound bow. However, The compound does give advantage compared to using a re-curve or long bow.

I won't start archery season with the crossbow but, will consider taking a deer using it as opposed to a gun.

Mopars enjoy your vacation, stay connected for possible Wilhelm updates.
