Through some internet searching I found biologist reports conducted at Conneaut in 2008 and 2012. I read where the PFBC stocks fingerlings yearly, and there is also a picture of a healthy looking walleye from 2012. I have never heard of anyone that has caught eyes at Conneaut, or even fished for them for that matter. Thoughts...

Jmartin...I don't know if you know or not but Loby, like myself, is local to Conneaut and knows the lake as well as anyone so he knows of that which he speaks!  I will add that the walleyes in CL are not easy to come by, but can be caught with some regularity and always seem to me to be extra satisfying when you do.  A friend of mine and myself used to fish it regularly spring through fall and the fishing was consistent.  I will also add I only ever caught one during the day trolling for muskies.

Thanks for the info guys. My friends and I frequently fish Conneaut mainly for bass and northerns. I love it up there

A few winters ago my son and I were fishing Conneaut for Gills and Pike. We met a fella who told us of a rock pile fairly close that was in ~20' of water on a point where years ago he used to catch eyes. Well we had a camera so we went exploring and although we never did find a "rock pile", we did find an area of scattered rocks. We fished it awhile during the day and only caught a few small perch. Toward dark my son went back and jigged a Swedish Pimple. He caught a 19" eye. That was the last time we fished that area. It is hard to get to due to all the private property.

From what I understand Jmartin12 from knowledgeable locals that don't B.S., a healthy population of walleye exists at Conneaut and as others have written, they are difficult to come by, but can be caught if you do your homework. Personally, I don't target them there. If you can find some locals there that aren't tight-lipped, they will be able to help.
