I remember hearing the mid section being coined as the "old farts pool" years back....

While not really thinking a section of the river would be good ,  overall I just thought is was  a great idea.   They could almost do a kids only area above the LFZ for a stretch.   Never really walked up there, but I am sure there is good water.

Having just come back from 2 days of 1500+ runoff, the Salmon River in anything but low flows is no place for kids.  Actually had this discussion with Metal Slayer today, and he posited that in such dangerous flow conditions, you would have to keep your eyes and be close to the kid the whole time, so you really can't fish.  And one short lapse, and you could be into tragedy.  I'm with HT' this is basically an adult game, you start them on this fishing on low water if you live around there, and as older teens if you're traveling.  And I really don't see any need for special areas on these waters for kids.   If you want a handicap platform, go for it, we've got one on Irondequoit Creek in one of the prime holes, and I don't ever think I've seen a handicapped person fish from it.  Just don't start trying to impose $100 fines when everyone else is on it so it isn't totally wasted.

Seen wheelchairs on it and MOST of the time people showed some respect.
A couple other times guys crowded them or pushed in front of the platform destroying any chance the challenged fisher had.
Very little benifit in the end.

have to disagree with the old teens standard. In season 91 / 92 I was 11 years old and my father probaBly brought me up at least 25 times. All the way into April. He even managed to cross my brother and I in easier areas of the dsr up to 1 gate. Now granted my brother and I were skilled trout fishers by the ages seven or eight and already TyIng our own flies For some time. We knew all of our own knots and entanglements were a thing of the past at that point.
so lucky I can see what you are saying somewhat as you do not want to bring a completely green young fisherman to this river without any prior River experience. it also comes down to how much experience the parent figure haS as well.
