Got up at 0500 and it was a sleeting mess so turned in for another hour or so.   Got out of the house at  0930 and ran some errands.   It was on again off again sprinkles.   I fished the tail today and lost a few heart breakers. I fought one for what seemed  15 minutes.   Once they got in the fast water is was tough to get them back up and it was goodbye.   Today it seemed they wanted you to change every 15 minutes as the hits would come in the first 10 casts of the new fly and then nothing.   Hits were subtle and often if you had slack in line you would not feel them until the flyline pulled tight, took the fly and sat.   Hits today on size 12 sedge fly, green bean caddis and   stones, steelhead hammer in size 8.   4lb tippet outperformed 6lb and all fish lost except one were due to hook pops not breakoffs.   The only break off I had was a heartbreaker male that took me to the backing upstream and then down.   I lost him way down by the bend where they all sit in lawn chairs and BBQ  it was try to put the breaks on him or possibly lose my line.   Good day, but none to the net.    If it does not snow too bad Wednesday is the net day for me.  

I  just tied up a bunch of green rock worms. I used some slinky fiber that is translucent. they look great, but we'll see. Sounds like a pretty good day. Actually, very good.
That spot is tough. Did you try throwing slack or putting your rod  tip underwater?  They must've  just wanted barbecue. I don't blame them....  I'll be up in a week or 2- I'll let you know. I'll let you try them new caddis.  Thanks for the report, Clint. I really can picture it and felt like I was hanging out. If I was there I woulda snuck down river and shortstopped a few. HT did a great job netting   a nice one for me on the other side, just past the mouth of the diversion. I hooked it swinging in the very tail.  Ya need a buddy's help once in awhile.

My next "possible" venture for Steel is the Holidays out in Ohio.But that depends if the winter screws me .

Kind of like this one????    My new Sedge worm is a little different from the green bean.  I found with the smaller hooks the green leg material takes up too much space in the hook gap.  I am just using  5 or 6 turns thin lead under green thread to taper the body. Thin copper wire for the body coated in SH to harden it up.   Then brown or black hackle for legs, then brown or black Dubbing  head.   
I did try everything to keep those fish up, throwing slack and keeping the rod down sometimes.  I think a net man may have resulted in a bit more success, but hey it's C and R
