i was planning an overnight allegheny float this weekend with a group of people. i took note of the water levels at franklin when we went last year & it was about 7000 cf/s and the gage height was about 4.5-5 feet. it was a tad fast for ideal fishing but overall completely fine.

we looked great for this weekend until the storms earlier in the week. we even looked ok until yesterday am when kinzu dam decided to open more gates. the prediction site shows the levels sat am will be about 6.3 feet and the flow at about 14,500 cf/s. so about twice last years flow.

here's my question... how much of a difference does than 1-2 foot difference make? is 6+' and 14k+ cf/s worth floating if the main purpose is to fish?

any help anyone familiar with that stretch of river could offer would be greatly appreciated. -wayne
