I erected Stalag 17 around my garden after the deer destroyed everything a few years back.
I enjoy venison stew, chili, marinated & grilled steaks and cutlets made parmigiana style.

Thanks for the suggestions to repel these guys.   Lived  in East Hanover, NJ  since 1986 and this is really the year of the Walking Dead!      More concerned  on the pruning job they did on my 8 Purple Leaf Sand Cherries I put in around the Pool..     Looking at a mesh fence when they get ready to blossom in Spring.

Sorry that I'm going to hijack this thread to bits and still have not looked at the link.. Sorry..
Great pics Rich.. I have a co worker friend (ex-SR fisher) that spends thousands of $$ to hunt Alberta Canada.. He has impressive mounts such as those you posted.. A 22pt, and 19 pt that made my head turn but his best deer to date was a 10 pt at 335 lb weight.. It's all about the trophy for that style hunting as the meat stays in Alberta..
I live on the Hudson River below Albany, have seen deer swim across in the open water and struggle to walk across on the ice, and get sucked under..

Now the Hijack:
These shots were taken this eve off the front and back porch..
#1 is where I planted a row of sunflowers to give a little camouflage to the fence.. The deer waited until they bloomed then munched them down;; ugh.

#2 is off the back.. My raised beds garden is under those piles of snow.. I have cayenne, jalapeno and bell peppers in the mix.. The Deer avoid them but munch everything else.. Notice all the tracks in the snow.. Yup !! My poor apple trees to the right never stood a chance..

Ice is nice:
Here is from last Saturday and how we roll:
An 11:00 lunch provided by the friends I fish with:

Jack, the Bar was open and the food great !!!
As we set our tip-ups straight out, it was 3 degs so the heat went on and it became a solo jig.. Don't worry guys I will deploy the big top if you all decide to come have some fun..
The aftermath in front of the stove :

Nice Pics Tuna! I love the Shiner Bock for washing down the Sausage and Peppers!  Have 2 - 6 Packs of "Shiner Family Reunion" in the Fridge.
A good friend of mine from Whippany,  NJ just closed on a Lake House  on Big Lake Sacandaga.      May be taking a poke up there with him in January to try the ice.  Might as well take advantage of that NY License for more than Steelhead.

If you guys ever do a group outing on the Ice, would love the opportunity to jig for a few.  Ice fishing has been very iffy the last two years.

RW- I've been to your neck of the woods, taught at Hanover Park HS a long time ago.  Used to commute from NY and drive by the Nabisco HQ every morning.

TrBum, if you taught ay HP in the late 70's you most likely taught my wife and her brothers.   Nabisco moved me to EH in 79 from the Niagara Falls Shredded Wheat Plant. We are now known as Mondelez International ( Nabisco/Cadbury).   Still at the same place. In the fall, when acorns were dropping i pushed the  fat buck in photo from stuffing his  snout in between chasing does, while walking to our gym.  Lot of the deer run onto our property along the railroad tracks and JCP&L easement from th Pasaic River.
Tuna, will look forward to your ice reports
