Well my dad takes care of the plowing in my drive most of the time.  Gives hime something to do in his retirement.   Got a call on the way home from my sister and she said "Dad called my and he backed into your garage,  he said you might not be able to open your door."   Course that put me in a panic and when I got home he did not back into the garage he backed through it.  Took the whole corner out!!!!!!!!    After getting into it most everything was pulled apart by the nails and the sill plate was pulled  off the bolts.  Got everything fairy pounded back into place, had to put a new piece of sill plate in  and braced it up a little for a temp.  fix.  I think I got it at least sturdy and stable.    I will have to call in tomorrow and decide how to proceed and find someone to get over here to fix it properly as I do not have the skills to do it quickly and efficiently .

Here is the kicker, my dad never called, never came over to tell me or anything.  I drove by his house and all the lights were off, but his car was in the garage.    I am trying not to be furious right now and that's why  I did not go into his house.  In my mind it's not the point that he did it at all because accidents happen.    Just really ripped he did not call or stop down  or anything.     He has a tendency of taking thing with a grain of salt and not worrying about anything.   I could have had an electrical fire or my house could have, and still possibly can, collapse since it was right on the corner.

Well enough of my rant thanks for listening.  Hopefully I can find a contractor quick to get this fixed up.

If you have a delay in getting someone there I would make sure you keep the snow off the roof and run by the store and by a jack or two as a temp fix with it being a load bearing wall you could have a major disaster if the roof goes unsupported. If I was closer if would come by and help but I'm sure someone can be found this time of year. Wish you the best of luck

I got it temporarily braced up pretty good.   Already sent some pics to a contractor friend and he says I should be good.   I already raked all the snow I could off the roof.

This whole section was pushed off the blocks including ripping the sill plate off the blocks and bending the bolts.   I had to cut the  sill bolt and got sill and the studs back in place.  I added a few extra 2x4s from the sill to the  sill plate on top for extra support.   Hoping it will be good enough till the weekend.   It's not attached to the sill, but if I can keep the truck out of there it should be OK.  Will need to replace the sill plate on bottom and all those studs and build a new corner stud to feel good about it.   A contractor friend  may stop over tomorrow to take a look be able to help out  this weekend.

Trev we know what we have in my dad will not change it. There are no secrets.    He has been  and is the BEST dad a guy could want so it is what it is .    Really should not have posted what I did above  as what really bothers me is the fact he did not call or come down to check and see if the house caved in.   That's just how he is and whatever condition he was in I could see him acting how he did.    Above is edited

Clint I'm guessing he was too embarrassed to call.

Good luck with the repair.

If you have any questions , feel free to call, Clint. That's an easy fix. What you have shown looks fine. Just make sure the garage door header connection isn't twisted or compromised. You should have room behind the  closed door to put a support under the header trim, that's where the worse load would be. Hope all is made right quickly. You already are in the process of accepting and forgiving.
Lots would still be punching walls,  and ranting and raving. Looks like you inherited some great stuff from Dad.

Man,does that bring back a memory of a dear friend that passed away this spring.
Several years ago my friend called and said he had a similar "accident" at his home.He somehow took out the side and part of the corner of his garage with his car, said the brakes "failed" but I know his foot slipped and he panicked,he was in his early 80's then.I was a contractor so I had quick access to help and we got it put back in short order.
As Charlie said,it's not that bad and I'm sure you'll get it fixed with no problem.
Clint,I bet your dad was totally embarrassed by this and really did n't know what to do.Accidents happen!

Well I talked to him today and he just acted like I thought he would.    Not knowing the serious nature of the damage and telling me he did not think there was any way it was more than cosmetic damage. He said he thought I would  just "patch it up until spring"   and not worry about replacing the studs.   I explained to him about headers and load bearing  supports.   That is how he is though.   He is a drive the car the noise is not "that" bad sort of guy. I took some siding off today and hopefully my sisters contractor friend comes tonight to look it over and we can bang out a semi permanent repair to the structure tomorrow.

Bygones are bygones.   I am done being mad, but still not over being disappointed and upset.  You can fix a wooden structure with minimal effort and a little $$$.   Other broken things are sometimes never fixable and I really have no wants or needs for something of that kind being broken.
