Hint:   Not to change the subject....but.
Some of the smaller lakes in NW PA have  cooled down enough that the fishing is starting to get better.  50+ panfish in  3 trips ... not bad for a start.

Got the FishHawk gassed and the DieHards are fully charged.
Just waitin' for the BluBird sky to cloud over. Fishing under that open sky and blazing sun get's brutal. I rarely fish from the banks of lakes or ponds but, give me French Creek and I'll be, in the shade, along her banks somewhere.

Appreciate the 'heads-up' on the lake fishing. I'll be there!

KJN . . . sounds to me like you use one particular method of fishing for Smallies that doesn't work as well in September (topwater?  Fast retrieve? 'white water' only?) as it does earlier in the season?  I assure you that September is one of the BEST months for Smallies.  While they do go low n' slow as the water gets colder, those who target them will not be disappointed.  Echo everything that all said.  No bad water for them in the Allegheny River watershed.  All about water color/depth right now . . . either Allegheny OR French.

I'm stuck in southcentral PA now, so don't have access to my homeland.  If I did, you wouldn't catch me near Erie Steelie tribs until Spring.  Too much action in Allegheny shed w/ Smallies, Walleye, Musky, Pike, and Fall 'River Run' Trout to combat fish up on Lk. Erie.
Good luck!

@Jester2...........

Ever hit Poe Valley State Park for trout; where it's fishing and not catching?

Never had Fall fishing out produce Spring fishing. One nice thing is Fall fishing the rivers is just about empty as far as you can see. I admit I don't go as much as I would like.

Those that go fishing in the fall; to solely catch a fish, "can't see the forest for the trees".

SMT said that......
