time to load up the waders and sharpen the hooks on the rapalas.  smallies and eyes will be moving in to the shallows in the evenings.  later in the month , perch will follow.  man, i just love october.  to me, on this lake, it's as good as the spring.

I know......... I know......
It's down right terrible.

I cry myself to sleep every night trying to figure out what I'm going to do the next day.

thunder, in my darker hair days, sans wrinkles, it was always time to duck hunt, world series, football, family rides and fishing.  i always saved some vacation time for october.  i've been known to take my father's old .22 into the squirrel woods, along with a thermos of joe and a snack on days like we've had.  once the coffee and snack is gone, i lay the rifle across my legs and commence to nature nap.  the next six weeks rock to be outdoors.

btw, i can remember a day about seven years ago or so where i took my slug gun home, an hour's drive, and grabbed some fishing tackle and heading back up to pymy for some early evening perch fishing.    in the fall, there's no place i'd rather be.

Archery hunting and fishing in the fall; just don't get better then that, least for me. Run the jet on the Allegheney, hunt her banks in the morning, fish her waters in the afternoon and back to her banks in the evening.

Not suprising to see deer standing near the water drinking or eating the tender sprouts of grass. Always fun to get up stream and drift down just to see if I could get a shot.

Wilhelm is another favorite spot for hunting and fishing the same day.

Just this past week while fishing, I saw a large deer turn and run into the woods At Shenango. Couldn't put horns on the animal but, if it does they should be quite a hat rack. I need to check the hunting reg.s for Shenango as I'm new to that area but, if permitted my boat will be tied to shore somewhere.

Never killed a deer while fishing but, we all know there's always the first time. One thing for certain, coffee and baloney sandwiches never tasted better!!
