Was definitely a good night.  Weather was sunny and it was 31 degrees.  Was a few people there but plenty of room.  Set up in a decent spot   and had a good time tonight. Fished for about 2 hours.   Quite a bit of action .  Had one on that I lost that seemed kind of bright.  4lb test seemed better than 6 for hits , but I broke off a few.  Usually broke off when trying to net them.  Little green caddis in size 12   and steelhead hammer in size10 in pink got hammered alot.  Ruined a few flies tonight.  Notice the last pic,  a deer floated by.   Not something you see every day.

Nice job.  I wonder if the deer was a winter kill due to starvation.  I read a number of reports that the duck kill due to lack of open water has been huge this winter.

Gerry that thing had not been dead long at all.  It was a small one, probably fell in or tried to cross

Talked to someone yesterday who has seen a video of a guy ice fishing on Braddock's Bay and retrieving a merganser  up through the hole that hit a jig. She also said she has shipped two to Cornell that tried to land on roadways thinking they were streams.  The folks I know in Chicago said massive numbers of early ducks died because they could not find open water.  Fortunately, Ontario has nearly cleared and Michigan was open up into Wisconsin on the NWS maps the other day.  But baitfish that are normally kept in check by the fish ducks  will have a field day until these populations rebuild.  Be prepared for massive Gizzard shad die-offs in all the lakeside ponds this spring as well, as they are peaking in numbers and heavily stressed fro this long cold.

Nice clint.
I'll get that diploma from the school of blurry 1 hand photography as soon as I can.
So back here had this guy chase a fish "big fish, big fish"
drop his net in to float away somewhere ,plays the fish, lands it while holding the rod 2 feet up the blank breaking the tip off then gill finger phucking it so I could take his pic before he tossed it back in.
Good times.

PS  I forgot to mention it was about 8 pounds.

I had  good fishing for the amount of time I thee last night, same with last week too.  Heck I even threw on a bobber and got 2 that way.  I think my new little fly is killer.     Guy I fished  next to was there for hours with only 1 fish.  I came and had 3 on in 20 minutes.  I could tell he was frustrated  by it.    Gave him one and BAM second or 3rd cast fish on.
Only problem I have is my friggen arm hurts SOOOOOO bad after fighting a bigger fish for a few minutes.  I constantly have to switch arms due to the ache.   I had to break one off last week it ached so bad.   I cannot wait to get this surgery done so I can be at full strength for next year.

You just had surgery, it will get better.

Not so with getting older, it just keeps hurting and you'll just keep switching hands!

I know I should be out today, the water is right and the chrome are coming in, but it is only 35 and there are 30 mph winds, and my bones don't go that anymore!

Last day of 62!
