So today I got to mid river at 0800. Fish were scattered here and there and in the deeper holes there were hook ups. Not alot of real movement though. I fished a few spots with no takers. I saw one nice steelhead taken (not caught if you know what I mean).  I fished a few spots mid river and then went to the LFZ it was space there, but the decreased pressure meant fish that were not scared for their lives. I managed two good hits, both were ho's. The increased water has started the pillaging in the smaller water.

Here is my single report after having a week off. It's sad but had to catch up on outdoor stuff. I got up at the time most folks are just settling down after a long night at the bar. Arrived and got settled in for the wait and forgot my stool and earphones so it w's the Howard Stern show and music for all. Yep me and the squirrel. Of course it started to rain so it was a long wait. As the usual no one came in until 0530 (for both sides mind you), but if I wait until 0500 to come in there is always the one guy when gets there before me. River seemed little high I am guessing. 750 plus. It never got real busy there were only 12 people total as far as I could see on both sides at  it's  busiest.  Fishing was slow as slow with not even a touch for anyone until 0800. All my hook UPS come between 0900 and 1000 all on pink hammer and all hit and ran. They were not "'hot'' fish , but none were cookie cutter size all felt 10 to 12# range. I left at noon and left 1 person there. 12 people throughout the am and 10 hookups seen,  4 by me 4 up under pines by a guy and 1each for the guys accross. Slow day if not for that pod that seemed to come through from 9-10 for me, nada outside of that.  The guy under the pines picked at them  but he had a pretty violent hook set at the slightest twitch of his float.
Had a 3 inch branch fall hit and hit very close  right as I was bringing a fish in. I heard the snap and thought my rod broke. As it broke I startled and gave slack and I broke off. The others although longish fights too did not get closet to shore.  I left at noon not seeing a fish hooked for 2 hours.

Friday went up at 0330 to secure my spot  and someone beat me there. Turned around and went back home was back in bed by 0400 and slept in until 0630 and went bark up by 0700. Probably should have stayed  fished the other side but sour grapes and I lucked out. First thing I noticed was about 15 guys on the north side. Seems they were shooting a video for something or another. They had all the goodies. Underwater camera, Professional video equipment etc. . They were a good crew, handled the fish well and seemed like they had a god time. I heard ''Fly lords '' more than once. It was packed on that shore to say the least  Now for the fishing. Fished several spots on the south side.   I did fair averaged about 2 fish an hour on and landed a few. Fished 4 hours feet got cold and went home. Stone flies were the best.  Saturday my busy who I never see  come up. He has the diabetes so his feet get cold. I decided to secure the spot where we could stand out of the water. Got up there at 0230 and beat him by half hour. Like me he left when he could not fin there. From 0300 till 0430 3   others came and left. Most went across they way. I listen to Stern. Podcasts and even read. Its nice alone time. No fish hooked until 0730 and then it opened up. There were several times 4 people were hooked up at once.  I landed 3 fish in 45 minutes and then my buddy got there at 0745. From then on it was a cursed day. One of us would hook up and as soon as the net was touched the fish would pop off. The fishing was great in half our spurts and very good until about 1300. It slowed o just good. The WHOLE area produced some fish which is more indicative of fall fishing other than winter. Many of these fish were BRIGHT AND HOT. I was down to the backing more than once. It was a top 5 day I think. The other bad was I think the high water brought the fish but also bought a nice tree  or moved a rock in front of where I fish. You could physically see something new there. The fish liked it and sat behind it, but it ate flies like a fat man in a doughnut factory. Between me and my friend (he lost a bit more than me LOL) we lost 50 flies. Many times it was a fish or a snag on every cast. LOL it was worth every fly. I even used the old ugly ones I tied that just didn't turn out right ne they seemed to work the best LOL. I really purged my box, but it is good to start new. I went to All Seasons and bought $50 in hooks Thursday so all is good. Best flies were stones and eggs of all colors. Sucker spawn got nothing, nymphs did ok, but not great. A long day with a good friend and met a nice guy named Larry. I knew I cursed the day because also I also brought my nicer camera. We only landed 1 fish after my friend got there a mid teens hen and it flopped out before the picture. Many many battles ended in despair right in front of the net. Yep Top 5 day. LOL.  Long post good times ane really nothing to complain about per my usual.

Nice going Clint. I'm not sure if I'm up to the o'dark 30 stuff anymore so leave me some sloppy seconds.
As for your "spot" , it's always been a fly eater and I like the bobber gig along that shore, maybe not as many bites but surely less hardware and line in the river bottom, tree/ rock. Hence I like the north bank better for fishing.
Lastly, take care of ailment. . You know better than me but it seems the wrist effects the elbow. I had it bad before myself.
2 things that kept me fishing through it was
1. A wrist brace
2. A spey rod.

2 handed casting was much easier .
I recouped and never used the spey again. It's sat in a case for years.
Good luck

Thanks guys it was a god day. Rich I'm willing to give up the flies to keep out of the water, it's the difference from fishing all day or a few hours. I can't disagree that the north shore fishes better in a lot of aspects, especially in water under 750. If its just me I can usually limit the consumption to a dozen during the day. I will see about a MD next week as I cant lift a glass without discomfort.
