Tried a new stand yesterday afternoon. Can't wait for some of the greenery to die off so I can see a little more. No deer, but there was a new rub out in front of it. Saw 2 doe on my way out. On a side note, the squirrel population looks to be having a boom year where I hunt. Should be a busy fall for the feist dog :)

From where I sit the Deer, and to some degree Turkey, are now transitioning from Summer haunts to Fall, big changes can occur.
As the food sources change so do the animals----

How true. I don't archery hunt, but I have a trail camera out along the wood line at the back of my yard, which is about 300 yards from the house. Since July, all that appeared deer wise were doe and fawns. Starting in September, three small bucks started to show up.

These youngsters were triplets from last year -- a small barely separating at the top fork horn, a small three, and a spike. Oddly enough, their mother had triplets again this year.

On Saturday night, an 8 that anyone would be proud of showed up and deposited his scent on the licking branch where the camera is aimed. Have never seen him all summer, in person or on camera.

Agreed. Had 4 shooters on camera early last season. Never saw a one of them in season. The buck I did get I never had a pic of until a few hours before I shot him.

no fog this morning... well of course I didn't go out this morning .. paper shader ... I'm telling the wifey😜... now did go out this afternoon, great day to be out .... no deer though ..... until I was leaving , got to field about 7:00 noticed movement on other side of field sure enough it was the big boy I've been looking for. So figure I have enough light maybe I can call him over to me. I start little grunts got his attention , he's heading my way but really alert. About half way across field he heads into woods and leaves , I saw 2 doe in the woods so figure he was more interested in them ..... so that ended my afternoon hunt ..... it was exciting though !!

Great story Steve, I could feel the heart pounding and the dry mouth thingy when you called and your buck started toward you, but then....... I guess he must of had a honey-do list.  Stupid doe!
 
I did have fog this morning so I didn't head out to field or forest but later in the day, I did head to the lake.  Stupid fish!!!
 
My itinerary for tomorrow will likely include a trip to a very special lake we both have come to know (no spot burning)  and I will have my boat, trusty bow and, some sharp pointy sticks for maybe a walk along some shoreline. 

Saw no deer yesterday afternoon, but the skeeters were out in full force. Gonna give it a break until Saturday. Little warm for my taste the next few days.

Well sit in stand tonight until dark .... yep skeeters are still out there Crappie .... lol. Saw one small buck a one horn Y saw it yesterday morning & thought it was a spike but got a good look at it tonight right under me... nice night to be out though , little on the warm side and rain coming 😡.... good luck to all .... probably taking tomorrow off hit it again next week ....
